I was taking a snooze..one of those half asleep things we retired sometimes take..Why? Because we can dummy ..were retired. One of the fringe things to look forward to..
While half awake...Fox was on..you got me Krickett..and in my half asleep state, Fox comes on and said that it has been estimated that Mubarak has squirreled away that much..has property around the world..Hollywood in the States is one place..London..what ever..but this is from a country with 75% of the country estimated to be illiterate according to the Egyptian reporter who quit their country's TV station in protest to the tainted news going out ...40% of the population earning 2/3 $ per day.
These people are crazy..they want him out of the country? How about having the military arresting him..using their famous interrogation techniques { supposedly so good we send people to them to be interrogated } to find out where it is , get it back..even giving the military a 10% finders fee..give him, Mubarak, a billion as a retirement gift and send him on the way. Seriously, if true, $70 Billion, 40 % population living on 2/3 $ per day, 75% illiteracy...and this is considered one of the more advanced countries in the Arab sphere..unbelievable.
Also reported by Fox as long as I have you..what a station..what have I been missing...the new Egyptian vice President survived a assassination attempt , well organized one , two guards killed , the day after being appointed Vice president by Mubarak while in a automobile going some where.
Since he is considered a possible interim leader during the change over , this is important.
PS:
Hey Krickett it just got to me why I have a problem with Fox..it's the female reporters..they are all dressed to the hilt, most Blond, they shriek a bit to much , and so far all start with " OBAMA at the top of their lungs..and they are too good looking to be considered seriously...now CNN, woman reporters , commentators..nice and frumpy as they should be..not even sure of their bathing habits..shave , possible yes, possible no, thats a commentator.

Ouch! You may be forgiven for that because of your age, but that comment has the potential to really piss off a lot of women...

Just trying to be honest ed..but it's true guy...I noticed it the other day..yep been watching a bit..theres one with a big Blondie hair do, have no idea of her name but WOW..and I have to take what she is saying seriously? Impossible. While got you, Fox still on..have to change but Carl Rove is on, criticized Obama on his remarks about the reporters being attacked..said the President said it was unacceptable , Carl said he should have "condemned "it. Picky, picky Carl, picky, picky.

I've heard that Fox hires the best looking women for their news. They also dress nice, what there is of it. Now if they could only talk slower so maybe the liberals could understand......Sorry, I just couldn't help my self.

Fox says Mubarak..worth $70 Billion..WOW
Just as 99% of all politicians are, this despot is without a doubt corrupt to the bone. If he had even 1b in personal wealth, that would be enough to realize he has defrauded the people of Egypt for maximum personal gain. What was the personal wealth of Saddam Hussein and what was his fate? As you can see, Mubarak deserves something that would make any would be corrupt politician think twice, or thrice.

...I know that sex sells, but I will agree that it's become ridiculous to have such froo froo female wardrobes on the news, while the males are in suits... I've seen this on all the news channels, including ESPN... wte? Would you just dress appropriately? ...then maybe we'll listen to you more rather than look at your outfit... ...and, imo, it's the headline news girls that most look like they're clubbing...

When I made up this thread it was a rumor I heard on Fox that I haven't heard since so possible just a fact/rumor that really had no legs..just a rumor thrown out there, even though it was mentioned on Fox , a large media source, and I was letting it go..but just found another article , new one..again , possible a rumor..but when there is smoke smelled usuall there is a fire so am printing it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ " Mubarak Worth More Than $70 Billion Friday, 04 Feb 2011 08:49 PM Article Font Size
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and his family have amassed a fortune estimated at $70 billion according to analysis by Middle East experts poll by the London Guardian. And very little of that stash is kept in his own country, they say. Much of his wealth is in British and Swiss banks or tied up in real estate in London, New York, Los Angeles and along expensive tracts of the Red Sea coast.
How does a dictator get so rich? Over 30 years as president, and before that a senior military officer, allowed Mubarak has access to the oligarchs who control much of the investment capital in Egypt’s very closed, highly bureaucratic system. Investment deals have generated hundreds of millions of pounds in profits for Mubarak. Most of those gains have been taken offshore and deposited in secret bank accounts or invested in up-market homes and hotels.
According to a report last year in the Arabic newspaper Al Khabar, Mubarak has properties in Manhattan and exclusive Beverly Hills addresses on Rodeo Drive.
His sons, Gamal and Alaa, are also billionaires. A protest outside Gamal's ostentatious home at 28 Wilton Place in Belgravia, central London, highlighted the family's appetite for western trophy assets.
Amaney Jamal, a political science professor at Princeton University, told the Guardian that the estimate of $40 billion to $70 billion was comparable with the vast wealth of leaders in other Gulf countries.
"The business ventures from his military and government service accumulated to his personal wealth," she told ABC news. "There was a lot of corruption in this regime and stifling of public resources for personal gain.
"This is the pattern of other Middle Eastern dictators so their wealth will not be taken during a transition. These leaders plan on this"

I would think if he had 70billion stashed away, it would be an easy decision to leave. But I guess there are always things a dictator can do that even billionaires can't do in the west.

If you think about it..if true and all the others who are his supporters, the generals, ministers over the years..say another , oh say, 30 Billion between him,,and little invested in Egypt..what a shame..75 % illiterate population, 40 % living on 2/3 oer day..12 % unemployment..educated college graduates unable to find decent work...makes Marcos and those others dictators of history look like pikers..wonder how much the Sha got away with,,,

I wouldn't be surprised if part of it is he simply didn't want to slink away in the night and live in exile for the rest of his life like a lot of other dictators. He's been in power for 30 years and isn't used to being told things are going to change in spite of what he wants.

I agree with you and in his own mind he might feel he has ruled well..making sure the people were protected from the extremist..such as Iran..the defender of the people..possible thinking he was deserving of the riches he has aquired and not understanding the frustrations of the people. Not seing the forest for the trees..

Not sure how I missed this one, Dez. Geez--- so, the population of Egypt is 8.5 million, he has 70 billion, amassed over 30 years in power while they have no work and live on 2 bucks a day---- gives a whole new meaning to the whole peaceful protest thing, doesn't it?? I wonder if the people know about this money?? I assume so, since they have internet.... He's probably just trying to find somewhere he can go to hide. Very disgusting. O'Reilly interviewed Obama today before the super bowl. One of the things.. O'Reilly says Egypt has some dirt on the US. Sure it does, wonder what it is, how bad it is. Heck, maybe wikileaks will leak it, LOL!! Hey-- I watched your guy on CNN today, can't remember his name, the Indian guy you told me to watch. I liked him. Hard to judge these days though, with everyone talking about the same exact things. I'll catch him again some other time if you will not diss the lovelies on FOX!!! Heck, some of them are big belly pregnant, Megan Kelly is, and she is a beautiful blond woman. You know-- we have our Sarah Palins and Megan Kellys, you guys have your Janet Napolitanos and Rachel Maddows. ( Calm down, people, just playing with my friend Dezi!!)

Population is 85 million..did i say 8.5 ? If so , typo. I missed that interview, I would have liked to have seen it..have to do even more with Fox. Obama went on Fox..wow..
You did, kudos//Fareed Zakaria...the thing with the Fox women came to me last week now that I put it on every now and then , not a regular but getting used to it..the brassy and Blonde and shrill, especially with their starting out allways shouting OBAMA in the first 10 words, LO, CNN, woman, frumpy, use to that.
Beck is dangerouse..I don't mean don't watch him but you have to not take him as seriously as you can..I know he says do your own research...his latest , the Arab Domino Affect can scare the be Jeeves out of some one, want to get people dusting off the old 50's bomb shelters... Possibility happening? Every thing is a possibility , me getting back with my ex, only been 40 some on years, and it's assuming all Arabs are idiots , are under the conservative spell..not true..watch him, OK, interesting but watch him as a skeptic...

Heck no, I would hold him hostage until he liquidates it all and gives the majority back to the people. Who needs more than a Billion to live, seriously.

This is why dictators get assassinated, isn't it??
Hey, Dez-- try to catch O'Reilly tonight if you want to watch the interview. The Obama interview in it's entirety will be on. Yesterday we only caught 5 minutes of it. Supposed to be 15 minutes long.

Or shot following kangaroo court. See Romania 1989. This is how all corruption on the backs of ordinary hardworking citizens should come to its explosive conclusion.

Some time to quick...better, a trial, information and the crimes brought out so they are on all ones mind...see Eichmann, they could have easily just offed him back in Argentina, left him on the steps of some German social club...however, it was for the Israelis, the young to know what it really was all about, a education, plus the world also, but primarily the young people. I wonder if life in prison wouldn't have been better , the same in Romania..think about it..not because I am anti execution for some vicious ones , better they are put down, but some , in a different way, the punishment of life, no parole...just my thoughts.

Read the story. I think wiki has a good few pages on it. If this would happen more often we would probably see a large decrease in the practice. If you ever thought I was kidding this could be applied here then think again. As a matter of fact, at some point in the not too distant future it will be applied here and for damn good reason.

JFK was shot because he wanted to get rid of the federal reserve? People with the money don't get shot, they hire the shooters.

JFK was shot because he wanted to get rid of the federal reserve? People with the money don't get shot, they hire the shooters. Is that the latest reason given, don't keep up?...if so, if he only knew, bet he would have changed his mind. Bankers , financial folks, lawyers , accountents get their hands dirty like that, thought their weapon of choice was bribes, black mail, payoffs, useing lobbiest, buying off the Congressionals..a old Italian military weapon from a book deposatory? I have no idea why..still thought the fight against the Mafia, Cuba, they tried, CIA, kill him...Oswald...don't know really...great loss what ever.
