For those affected by events in Connecticut

Father God,

We come before you in fear and confusion as too many new souls are at peace with You this day because of a senseless act of violence. We do not understand why one of Your creation would so harm others in such an awful way. We thank You for those who were able to keep so many of the children safe from harm. We ask Your touch upon those law enforcement and medical personnel who have seen something that no one should ever have to. Be with them as they return to their own families and give them comfort as they work the case and deal with the emotional aftermath.

We ask Your comfort for those families directly affected with the loss of a loved one. Be with them in the days and months to come with Your gentle healing presence. Send to them angels both seen and unseen to stand with them as they grieve and try to adjust to life without their beloveds. We stand together in Unity to ask for Your Holy Spirit to be upon the survivors and those around them who will work with them to find some form of resolution and healing of their emotions and fears. Comfort those who knew this troubled young man and may blame themselves for not being able to stop him or alert anyone.

As we prepare for this most special time of year when family is so important to so many we ask for Your continued blessings and protection for our own loved ones. We thank You for making Your presence known to any who call upon You and for the most blessed gift of Your Son whose birth we celebrated.

All this we ask in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
