Great job, flamingo! Good luck on Sunday, HoneyBBQ! I'm on week three of my half marathon training plan, so i only have to run six miles on Saturday. God I love the early weeks of a training schedule!

I feel the same way today. Felt bad yesterday, but now I am just happy, chipper and joyful today. ;DTraining? Training is no biggie deal! Until the next big training session. I had to wait to plan my October races/training until today. I had an appointment with my gastroenterologist; colonoscopy is scheduled for Oct. 26. The cleanout procedure is not as harsh as it used to be, but you still have to start the food cutback/prep three days before. So the plan is to work out, but no racing that weekend. Still considering racing the weekend before, though, if I can find anything I want to do. I'm good with the swim and bike portion of the triathlon, but the run needs the most work.

On a self-imposed extra rest day or two. We played duck duck goose on Sunday with our run club (or rather, drunk duck goose with beer) and my hip is still sore. Best running injury yet!

Back from vacation, and did a 5K while I was gone. Not bad. Finished sixth out of 11 women in my age group. Next up is a swim meet, then possibly another 5K on the 18th. I have to take the following weekend off (24th/25th) to prepare for a colonoscopy. Then in November, I have a four-mile race and sprint triathlon on the same weekend.

Yesterday, DW and I ran a 5k at a localish brewery. I basically took this summer off from running but it was still a lot of fun and got to have a delicious pint afterwards. I do want to get back into training, though. It would have been nicer to palce a little higher.

A couple of local breweries are getting into the 5K thing here as well. Speaking of fine beverages, I had excellent beer at a brewery in Washington DC called Blue Jacket Brewery. And they sell their beer by the bottle as well for patrons to take home. If you are in DC anywhere in the vicinity of the Navy Yard area, I highly recommend this place. They serve lunch, brunch and dinner - not a huge food menu, but I actually appreciate a smaller, considerate menu.
OK, I have my leg scan/injection appointment made. Now I can actually plan my racing calendar, at least through next February. I do have a triathlon five days after the first injection, but I should be OK (I need three days of rest, so there is a cushion of an extra two days). I'm pretty much decided on this month (swim meet and one 5K) and November (6K, 4 miler and a sprint triathlon). December is still pretty open, and I have one race in January (a 10K on the FL west coast, near my brother's house).

Weekend meet done. Very fun, but very competitive. Registered for a 5K next Sunday (to be followed by an Oktoberfest party in the afternoon!) and a 10K in November. So November is now pretty filled up.

I have one more long training run to do before my marathon. I've taken 2 weeks off of running due to funeral/sick/vacation in that two week time period. I'm hoping that it didn't derail me too much. Having watched the Chicago marathon yesterday, I'm definitely in the mental mind-frame to run, just not so sure about the physical. Oh well, I can't do much about it at this point, so I'm going to have to hope my 2 week hiatus didn't hurt too much. DH and I have decided after this, we are done with distance running for awhile. We are going to focus on improving our 5k/10k times. Or, you know, I'll get re-acquainted with the elliptical machine and a book this winter. That sounds good too

Not a bad 5K this weekend...a few seconds slower than my September race, but good enough for a third place in my age group. And the awards were actually useful...a 20-ounce etched beer glass!

I got my last big run in this past weekend. Now I'm tapering, which is good, because it's been cold in the mornings so I don't want to run outside and I'm not really enjoying the treadmill. If I can just get through my weekend runs, which will be SHORT, I think I've got this made! I think everyone in my life will be glad when I am done with this so that I stop talking about how I have to run all the time.

Thinking....thinking...looking ahead to races beyond 2015.....I swore off half-marathons, yanno. But Miami is coming in January... Fort Lauderdale and Melbourne are both in February...but I also have a triathlon in February. Dayum. So many ways to punish myself. So little time.

We went to an organized training run yesterday morning, courtesy of our running store. I ran my best 10 miles ever. I am so amped for the Philly Half now! Hubs ran his first 20 miler. He says he felt great after, so he is going to do great in the marathon. On race day, I think he is going to run the first few miles with me and go off at his own (faster) pace. It's not until November 22, so we still have a lot of running ahead of us.

I am looking at my training calendar and planning out the season, since I have to be home today and part of tomorrow (colonoscopy prep today and test is tomorrow). I am hoping to put in a run or a bike session tomorrow afternoon/evening if the anesthesia wears off enough.

Yeah! Totally PRed my 10k this morning! Official chip time was 1:02:19, exactly a 10:00 pace. My GPS had me at a 9:56 pace. :-) Totally an official PR, though! I think this has become my favorite 10k. The first three miles are an out and back on the Ben Franklin Bridge, between Philly and Camden, NJ, and then the remaining miles through Camden and the Delaware River waterfront and then you finish in the outfield of Campbell's Field.

Yay Flamingo and Cookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm watching (virtually) a friend finish the NYC marathon (he has about a mile to go) and now wondering if my next half should be the NYC Half on March 20. I have to decide in a few days, since participants are decided by draw, and the deadline to apply is December 3. A logistically weird race (begins in Central Park and ends on Wall Street) but still sounds interesting.

Awesome job Meghan and flamingo!!!
Watching the NYC marathon and getting the itch to do another one. Not likely until late fall 2016 at the earliest, and I doubt I will have time with two munchkins then. Hopefully 2017!

A less-than-stellar 10K today, but I blame that on very hot conditions and still feeling tired from a swim meet 72 hours ago. Glad the first 10K of the season is done, though. A lot of people did suffer from the heat - and only one water station for a 10K race!? OK, it was one of the back-to-back types, providing water at the 2 and4-mile markers, but still...one more at least would have helped. More that a couple of runners were carted off via ambulance.
At least the goody backpack bag was outstanding - stuff I could actually use, except the can of Red Bull.

Fuuuuuuuuuccccckkkkkk! <<Sends heating pad, Icy Hot, Advil and Jack Daniels drip to Cookies>> I know the feeling of a cranky hip. I just did my last long run yesterday and long bike ride today, in preparation for a triathlon on the 28th of this month. I have a four-mile race on the 26th, but I am going to just run that very easy. After that, all I have lined up in December is a swim meet on the 13th. But two 10K races in January (one of them used to be in February, but it's been moved.) The second of the two is a double-bridge run; I did it last year, finishing second in my age group.

Good luck on your half Cookies Galore! You'll rock it, I'm sure! NancysSummerSip: Good luck on your triathlon! I'm in awe of those of you who swim and bike as well as run. I ran my first real run in 2 weeks today. It was glorious. Only 4 miles, felt great, no more knee pain. I have a 5k Turkey Trot coming up, then nothing on the calendar until next fall. I'll find something to do in March or April, but it's too cold do much here in the winter. But that's ok. I'm enjoying my "lazier" weekday monring routine that doesn't include running!!

Thanks ladies. My symptoms feel like hip bursitis (been having pain with sitting and standing for a while) but ever since I went balls out on my 10k a couple of weeks ago my long runs have been shit. Total mental and physical breakdown at mile 7, especially after going uphill. There are hills at miles 8 and 10, so I might have to walk those, which is a bummer. Here's hoping the crowd will get me through it! I am seeing my chiropractor Tuesday night.
