I don't see it either; I'm a "gloomer" myself. But I like to read ahamburger's stuff because he often backs up his optimism with material or thought-process description that explains his optimism. It's important to understand the optimists' viewpoint and how they arrive at their conclusions. You can't get the big picture unless you get differing points of view.

If the delivery is ornery and antagonistic the message doesn't get through. That doesn't help anybody at all.
