In between cleaning house, doing laundry and getting ready for my long weekend trip, I called and ordered Mom and Dad's telephone for their new apartment.
Mom's brother told her to call and get the prescription refilled, so she did. Didn't matter in the least that DS and I had told her that before she went without any medication for at least a week and got back to where she started. Saturday we told her she was not well and need to refill the prescription. She only said she'd call as we were leaving to make us be quiet. They eat with her brother on Sundays and he told her she wasn't better and needed to get it refilled, so she did.
If she gets obstinate, we may have to call him to talk to her.
At least we didn't get storms last night and my weather radio has not gone off this evening.
DS said the hog building was lifted off it's foundation and set down about 100 yards away from where it should have been. Same thing happened to a building on the next farm. They had to bring all of those hogs home and they are in outside pens, which BIL does not like.
They lost enough shingles that they had called insurance company and BIL was on roof putting on some temporary fix last night because we had tornado warnings again. Sure sounds like they had a small tornado in her area.

Thank you for all the well wishes. She's so beautiful and such a blessing. She's been named Elenor Betrice. SIL lost his mom when he was 16, so Betrice is in her honor. DH;s name and mine have been given to the other two as middle names. There has already been a miraculous apology to my son from SIL - who is very stubborn. What people don't understand is we are known to forgive quickly, but are more stubborn then most, including SIL, when it comes to contact. Surely that It has been raining quite often this spring. I like the rain because there will be water available if the summer is hot and dry.
Yesterday I made stuffed mushrooms and a salad that came from my garden. Yummy yum! I dried the stems and will pulverize them for mushroom powder. It's rather concentrated so I only need about half a teaspoon to flavor a soup or stew.
Stay safe and enjoy the day.

Rain Rain go away. Today felt more like fall than spring. While we are behind in total rainfall for the year we did not need to make it all up in one day.

I just got home from Urgent Care.
I've got a nasty case of Shingles..... left side of my face and head and left eye all involved.
Picked up some antiviral meds and antibiotic eye drops. Taking Benadryl, too.
Ouch Ouch Ouch.

Lynn E names seem to be quite popular right now. DGDtobe is going to be Emily. DD2 has at least 2 friends w/kids named Emma.
Molly ouch, ouch ouch. Dad had shingles in Auyg of 2010 at age 92. I got the vaccine last Dec.
It pretty much rained all day Wed and most of the night.
How fast our weather here in metro Chicago turns. It is so cool this am I have had to close my 2 open windows down to just a crack each for some fresh air.
Actually started my Christmas shopping today. Ordered a set of finger puppets for my new (not born yet) granddaughter. Shipping has a LONG lead time but so is Christmas. Should keep her BIG brother occupied amusing her too. As it happens I have looked atthese several times and debated buying them. This time I just went for them. If it is a mistake at least it is a cheap one (<$5). the 4 older grands will get their annual magazine subscription.

Ouch, MOLLY. I had shingles while I was working. The pain can be described as an enemy. If I was there with you, I'd make you chicken soup and you wouldn't feel like eating it. Then I'd say rest, sweetie, and you'd say maybe for a minute. It's pouring out there today. No yard. It's suppose to rain tomorrow too. No yard. Oh well. One good thing is, the complex is well designed for run off. No flooding or super soggy grass. MARV: Isn't it exciting to have another grand to spoil LOL

Shingles do, especially around the eyes. When I had them, I was told to watch for them around my eyes, but they stayed around one side of my stomach.
DS had them right after Christmas.
I have now had the vaccine.
Leaving in the morning to start my trek to Memphis to see Paul McCartney. I can not wait to be in his presence again.

Theo have a safe trip to Memphis and enjoy your concert. Molly and hope that the bout with shingles is short lived. It has poured the last couple of days and feels more like fall than spring. We have been setting records for the coldest high temperatures of the day.

Woke up to the sound of rain AGAIN/STILL. It is also SOOO cold this am that I needed to turn on the heat. It is down to 42 outside. Had to pull sweats from the out of season closet for today & will need a heavy jacket. BAAAD news at the end of May. I don’t EVER remember having heat on this late in the spring and the forecast is for 90’s & humid by mid-week.
CRAZY weather, seems to be hitting all over.

Shingles still suck.
Well, the military finally paid my wonderful DH the $151 from February ... it will be on his May 31 paycheck. Sheesh. The military paid him today for the time he was in Peru, but it's short about $500 or so. Knowing the military, I expect to see this rectified some time this autumn (rolls eyes!) Oh well, it's a start, right?
UPS came and picked up an Amazon return today .... one thing off my To Do List.
Fed Ex delivered my insulin in a huge insulated cooler-thing with lots of ice packs inside. I now have a handy stash of ice packs! I had wondered how the prescriptions by mail people handled refrigerated meds like Insulin.
I wrote some checks and paid some bills and need to get them mailed. I am sure I can get my wonderful DH to take care of that for me.
Lunch was leftover steak, some pineapple and some watermelon.
Our Memorial Day weekend plans had been kitten adoptions at Petco ... but since I'm stuck at home, I expect it will involve napping, reading, swimming, and lots of cable.

Molly are you planning on fostering kittens this year. We haven't had any picture of cute foster kitties in some time. I am hoping that this weekend will be relaxing and low key.

It's hard to say how long the shingles will stick around. Yes, they suck.
It was 50 degrees when I left home, but Lucy is not getting heat while I am gone. She does get food and water and DS is coming over to clean litter box.
I am in the St. Louis area tonight. On my way here, I was totally surprised that somebody on the interstate passed me on the right hand shoulder. A semi was trying to pass me, going up a hill. I was going a few miles over speed limit. I sure hope whatever he was trying to get to was worth the risk. Why can't a police officer be there when needed? Saw radar out in several places.
Heading on over to Memphis tomorrow. Paul is on Sunday.

Preggie DD2 got put on bed rest on Thur. Since this also happened w/her first I suspect I will be a granny again in <2 weeks vs. her scheduled c-section on 6/24. This has been a rough pregnancy so I bought the fixings for her fav meal yesterday – brisket. This really works since it is cool here this weekend. If she does go to full term it can easily go into either of our freezers.
Really have NO plans for this weekend. just keeping my cell phone close in case I am needed - nearly an hour away.

MARV: Our DD had a difficult pregnancy too. Last week she was cursing the women who stay slim and have a 'baby ball', then say how tired they are! LOL She called herself an incubator too.

I am tired but the house is clean. Now I need to get cleaned up and get ready to go to my nephews graduation party. My brothers youngest is the only of my siblings kids who is still in high school and he will be a junior next year. So far none of my generation in the family is a grandparent yet but it is just a matter of time.

We did some trimming of bushes in the backyard this morning ... things were getting overgrown and "scruffy looking," so we thought we'd tackle it before it got too hot. I think I got a sunburn on the back of my neck in the process, but it looks better. We watched My Cousin Vinny and Ferris Bueller's Day Off on tv this afternoon. My wonderful DH went and grabbed us takeout chinese for dinner. My Memorial Day Weekend plans went out the window with the arrival of my shingles. Since I'm stuck at home through at least Wednesday (that's the 1 week mark), I'm catching up on reading, resting, Facebooking ... and trying not to go crazy with the swelling, pain and itchiness. (I make a crappy patient!) Holly ~ keep us posted about the grandbaby! Theo ~ give our best to Paul! Sharon ~ Happy Graduation Party! Lynn ~ Have a great weekend!

Heard from DD2 last night that things are not going well. BP still WAAAY too high. Test results not good. Tests being repeated.
IF I don't have to go chasing over to her place to be w/grandson on Mon I will hit up a few places that are having GREAT clothing sales after I make the brisket - can you tell I am an early riser.
Since I did not get in for a manicure on 5/16 giving myself one today.

Sharon-thanks.
Called DD2 Sun mid-morning. Tests were MUCH better. However, there is talk of doing her c-section earlier than currently scheduled. Baby is estimated to be nearly 6 lb already so s/b safe if she is a month early like her older brother. DD2 is still on total bed rest. Will not know more until after her Dr. appot on Tu.

Happy Memorial Day! I feel like it's been forever since I last posted. Had to catch up on the goings on. Congrats Dutt! I just know she's a little angel . Holly, hope things go well with DD. Will keep you all in my prayers. Molly, sorry to hear about your shingles. Believe it or not, DS had them when he was about 3-4 years old. I was totally shocked and a little skeptical when the Dr. diagnosed him. I was almost at the point of thinking he missed the mark, and then a small very lightweight ball hit him in the back and he just howled. I've told him he needs to get the shot when he gets older. Theo, have fun with Paul - tell him we all say Hi It's been busy around here. I got my bedroom painted, which was no easy task. Not as young as I used to be. It looks really good. I sure had a time figuring out a color, and decided to just go for it. I love the way it turned out . I've been doing a lot of house work stuff, inside and out. Went to a graduation party on Saturday. Went to the folk's house yesterday for ribs. It's been beautiful here. Very surprising how the weather has been this weekend. It's usually either raining or really hot. Been in the low to mid 70's. Tomorrow starts the new work week. Just about down to the five years, two month mark before retirement,, but who's counting

Mother has the kayak made it out of the living room? DD and I went kayaking one time and it was great fun and I would love to do it again. Today has been a sewing day. I dug out a quilt project that was in progress (I have plenty of those to choose from ) and have been working away. Actually have made good progress. I figure the only way to get the sewing room decluttered is to finish the projects.

Holly ~ I am praying, too!
Motherto2 ~ thanks for checking in!
My Memorial Day Weekend was very quiet. The weather was unseasonably cool, which was very nice. We watched some movies, ate some takeout, slept in, read a lot, and every 8 hours I take (seriously) the world's largest pills! Between the antiviral pill and some Lysine supplements, these things are HUGE! LOL! Anyway, my eye looks better, at least.
My wonderful DH returns to work tomorrow (flying a mission, even), so I'm off to quickly shop at the grocery store, avoiding random children and pregnant women. (Supposedly I'm contagious to people who haven't had chicken pox ... but I'm not sneezing or coughing or oozing, so I think a quick in-and-out shopping trip shouldn't infect anyone. I'll pay with plastic, so I won't even have to touch money!)
We're warming up fast ... there are two 100s, a 102 and a 103 in this upcoming week's forecast.

Molly We are forecast for 2-3 days of 90's here. Think theo is in the same/longer boat.
I done good in my clothes shopping on Mon. Bagged a NEW medium weight robe, a light weight robe and the grey, wool blazer I have been seeking for several years. I spent: TA DUM: $7.
picked up some wanted/needed groceries too.
About 12:30 am the lightning flashed, thunder roared and the downpour started. It lasted, mostly on and slightly off until a bit ago.

Garden salesman comes in. Oh yes, we can get it done on May 6th with five guys and finished in a day. The truth. Coming this morning, putting in the concrete frame and leaving! I will paint myself. I hate being at the mercy of others. Hate, hate, hate it. GGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
