We have had a cold, damp and rainy spring. Now all of a sudden next week we are supposed to be in the 90's for a couple of days. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/shocked.gif) My berry bushes need some sun but it would be nice to warm up gradually and not overnight.

Woke up to good news this morning. Between Medicare and BCBS, the ambulance bill is paid. They must have coordinated through the hospital because the volunteer fire department never got any information from me. I am going to add I am not a bully. 😇

Allergies! Allergies! Allergies!
This will serve as a brief summary of how my Spring is going.
(Did I mention allergies?)

Feel better, Molly.
Would you like our rain? Rained all day yesterday and, I think, all night. Rained all morning but has stopped for now. It's cold. Had to turn the heat back on. Supposed to rain overnight. I'm tired of rain.

We are getting ready for a mini heat wave, couple days of 90 degree weather. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/sad.png) DD and I scored big time today. This morning I went online to look at their registry and to think about ordering them a stroller. I told DD I would buy them a stroller, supposedly SIL's Mom always buys a really good car seat for each grandchild that arrives so I picked a stroller. I stumble across this ad that says if you buy $300 in merchandise from Babies R Us they will give you a free pack n play. I called DD since I knew they still needed to get a crib mattress and knew that if we combined our purchases we would hit the $300 mark. The stroller was showing online at $189. We get to the store and there are no signs or anything to indicate that they special is going on, the stroller was priced way higher etc. We found a clerk at the baby registry desk and she knew all about the promo. She helped us get the stroller down and had a mattress delivered from the back warehouse etc. I mentioned that the price online for the stroller was much lower, not a problem we will price match for you. The pack-n-play was out of stock but she ordered one and it will be here next week, it is valued at $150 and DD will be getting it for free. In the end we saved $210.

Poured Drano down my bathtub drain this morning. Lucy wants in the bathroom so she can lick the tub, but I'm keeping the door closed.

Yesterday, I scooped a baby frog out of the pool but it hopped back in. Today, I scooped it out again and put my scooper thing over the grass so the frog landed in the grass instead of the pool. Hope it stays out.

Damp, dreary day today. Sun came out this morning for about 10 minutes after a storm. Just had another storm and now the sun is out again.

We hit 100 today, 102 tomorrow. Summer is officially here.
Tigger (cat ~ age 14+) was limping yesterday, so we chased him around today to get him to the vet. Seems he had an ingrown claw that was infected. It's been clipped, he got an antibiotic shot, and now he's supposed to avoid litter for 7 days. So we have puppy pads EVERYWHERE and we're keeping him in a few rooms.
We made a Walmart run today ~ the prices are good but the checkout took 33 minutes. I abandoned my wonderful DH and sat down and waited for him. (He's on a staycation this week!) To make it up to him, I ordered him some of his favorite dark chocolate from Monterey ... it arrives tomorrow.
The Weed Man comes tomorrow to aerate the lawn ... hopefully this will help the water get to the grass roots better.
Otherwise, I've been busy with cat rescue stuff ... fundraising, applications, etc.
My allergies are still a pain in my patootie.

Don't you love getting cats in carriers? Lucy is the only cat I have ever had that I just pick up and put her in the carrier. She likes to be held, so it's easy. None of the other cats I've had were that easy.
Been watching some utility guy working on the box that is on the neighbor's lot (my lot is right next to his). He didn't like looking at the box so planted evergreens that are now huge. Every utility company that has ever come here has told me those need to go and I tell them they are not on my property and I can't do anything about it.

THAT chase takes another 10-15 minutes and I usually need a shower to get fur, blood and sweat off me. And I thought getting DH out the door for his dr. appts. was a pain.

The chocolate arrived about 7pm tonight via FedEx .... shipped in an insulated container with an ice pack! So ... yes, that worked out beautifully! We went out to the base today so I could get my ID card renewed. It took a while, but I'm now good until 2021. They also re-added me to the military dependent system so that my RXs could get filled and I'd have health insurance. (Don't ask ... just another glitch!) Since we were already on the FAR side of town, we went out for tacos at a great place called Javier's that we'd both been going to for 30+ years! Yum Yum Yum! The Weed guys came today and aerated the lawn. There are now little mud plugs all over and it looks like 200 cats pooped on the grass! (They dissolve with sprinklers and mowing). The pool guy also dropped off some algicide for the pool .... the hot weather makes keeping the chemicals balanced a challenge some years. As I was reading in the pool this afternoon, I spent a fair amount of time chirping back to the fledgeling jay that was bouncing around the bushes above my head. At one point, he dropped a peanut on my head ~ I am sure it was on purpose. We've also got a pair of doves sitting on a nest made under one of our patio umbrellas. (We're hoping Jack doesn't notice when the doves start fledging!) Yep, our own little Wild Kingdom going on in the back yard. In the front, the birds are busily eating us out of house and home. It did hit 102 today. Ugh. It's nearly 8pm and it's still 97 out there. My wonderful DH just ventured out again because we're out of whipped cream and hummus. (You know, the basics)

Then I figured out to close all bedroom doors and hope when they were trying not to be caught they would end up in the bathroom. No escaping the bathroom until they were in carrier. I do set it out about a week in advance of vet appointments. Lucy has only had one appointment for being sick and she was easy to get in the carrier just like if I had set it out. I have been scratched, gotten cat hair all over me, etc. I stop if the cat starts foaming at the mouth.

Took dad for his hearing aid check up. It's like taking a 2 year old, only he doesn't throw tantrums.
Problem is he doesn't clean them. Mom did that. Guess if he isn't doing it now and she's been gone 3 years, he isn't going to start.

Spent the afternoon at my sister and BIL's. Seems dad is finally grieving mom's loss and is at the end of his rope. They took him to her grave 2 weeks ago and now he is insisting that he has to go this weekend. He misses her and he has to see her.
He is eating less and less and weighing less and less. Anything he catches will kill him. He has not had a cold since he moved here, amazing as that is.
It is so hard watching him and seeing the pain in his face.

Losing someone you love is hard. 💔 Unfortunately, you know that all too well. This morning dad called my sister and said he doesn't want to go to the cemetery, to just forget it. You can't have a conversation with him on the phone. When I take him to lunch, I am to try to talk to him. He had told me Memorial Day was the important day and sister wanted to go on Sunday. We both know he wants to go to the cemetery. We both wish he had words to grieve. All he says is I miss her.

We seem to have skipped Spring this year and gone straight from Winter to Summer. Yesterday was close to 90 degrees and today is supposed to be the same. I have been working on getting my decks scrubbed for the year. Yesterday I did the front deck and today I am going to try and get the back deck done. That is a get down on your hands and knees with a screw driver and a scrub brush with the hose nearby type of job. The screwdriver is used to pry out the crud that gets stuck between the boards. I am amazed by the number of cherry pits between the boards on the front deck yesterday, not even sure where the cherry tree is in the neighborhood but the birds must know.

Maybe you can get him to go he cemetery after lunch, when he is already out. Cemetery is 3 hours away. I think I wrote he was there 2 weeks ago. Sister and BIL are going to take him tomorrow. He also is wanting to visit his parent's grave, which is another 1 from where mom is. He wants to go to the Memorial Day Service and we were able to find the time online. So he is getting what he wants tomorrow. We now have to hope he doesn't win the lottery. I know there is a slim chance but he says if he wins, he is moving back where he and mom lived. He would have to be in assisted living and it wouldn't be any easier there than here. The only family members who have visited him or mom here have been on mom's side of the family. His side of the family didn't visit them before they moved here. He also isn't the responsibility of the two family members on mom's side he thinks will help take care of him. He says he will buy a car, start bowling again and visit his friends. Sadly, his friends are gone or also in their 90's.

Car shopping this weekend was challenging, frustrating, tiring, and annoying ... but at the end of it, I've now got a new (to me) car. Whew! Tomorrow I need to see about getting it insured and I need to order some seatbelt extenders from the dealership. It was a bit of a challenge to find one that fit me (I'm well above average in size ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/wink.png) ) and one that also fit in our garage ( thank goodness for power foldable side mirrors!) And I also didn't want it to have a gazillion miles or be ridiculously pricey. ( Yep, I may have been a bit hard to please!) We visited 5 dealerships in total in two different cities, and I sat in a lot of cars. And we measured a lot of cars. ( We have a weirdly narrow garage and we wanted a large SUV .... not the easiest thing to figure out!) There's no denying it ~ I'm officially a grownup. I bought a Lincoln. (Yes, we paid cash and shopped around!)
Next on my project list will be getting some nice photos of the Mustang so we can sell it. Or try to sell it.

❤ mollymouser ❤ glad you were able to find a car that fit your needs. I miss my Tahoe and really wanted another one when I traded in my last one. It is hard to find a newer low mileage SUV.

Today, I got insurance for the car and ordered the seatbelt extenders.
I also scrubbed the yellow floor mats from the Mustang. I want to just take XX amount from a dealership and my wonderful DH wants more ... so we'll see how things go. I had them outside to dry, but they aren't completely dry (they are carpet), so they are in the garage.
I also ordered a new keychain, lol.

I am fighting the urge to run away from home for a few days. It is really tempting to text my boss and tell him I won't be in the rest of the week because I have been called out of town unexpectedly. As in called out of town because I need to go to the coast for a few days and relax and eat seafood. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png) Guess I will be good and stay here but I don't want to.

One of my cousins was in the area for work, so we went to visit dad. It's hard to see him alone if he doesn't see a person very often.
Dad was still talking non-stop about Memorial Day. My sister told me last night that there was a luncheon served at the legion place in small town near cemetery. That is where the lunches are after funerals. He wouldn't believe her so another cousin had to tell him there was nothing going on there. He was still insisting so they drove down Main Street and there were no cars. That got him to be quiet about that topic.

I bought Oreo a new toy today. It took her less than 2 hours to completely kill it. The stuffing is now all over the living room.
