Are your Christmas Lights up? How many strings of lights does your house don? How are they arranged? Do you have other outdoor decorations?
My husband always outlines our roofline, and then puts lights in the bushes. He wrapped the big tree that is on the property line of our neighbor. I think technically it is her tree, but she was super excited we put the lights up. This year my husband took an old bike and covered it with lights and put it in the middle of the lawn. It looks great. He also outlined the driveway - which looked awesome, but one soccer game took out one string, and my kid told me I ran over the other string when backing the car out, so, all in all, dumb idea.

We had beautiful weather the weekend before Thanksgiving, so I put our lights up but didn't turn them on until Turkey Day. I used to string them in a pine tree in the corner of our lot, but it is too tall for me to do it and DH has been working crazy hours so I put those lights in the bushes out front instead. I also strung them though a crabapple tree near our garage. There's a gap between the bushes and the garage that needs "something", so I hung lights in the front window (which helped a little). I still think the yard needs something so I am leaning towards a row of light up candy canes to line the garden. Or I can drag out the light up deer that we inherited from the in-laws (DH hates them as much as the in-laws do, though! ).

We don't do outdoor lights, or at least haven't in the 2 years we've lived here - you can't see our house from the road, so it kind of seems like a waste. (That is what I tell myself - truth is, I'm lazy).
We did put the tree in the upstairs foyer this year (instead of the living room) and you can see it from the driveway, which is nice.

Since the weather was dry and the kids (in their 20's) were home I had them help DH put the lights up on Friday after Thanksgiving. The week we chose is weather dependent. We have 6 25ft strands of big old fashioned lights. And the top ones are 2 stories up!! DH does not like me suggesting that he may want to stop climbing up there soon. He says he will know when he is not safe. But I worry.

I'm in the midst of putting them up at the new place. I've done the short ever green and put up a little snowman. I still need to do my half of the tall ever green (neighbour hasn't done their half either so it doesn't look weird) and I need something in my windows. Next year we will look at lights on the roof line.

I don't decorate outside at all. It's just me so too much work, plus I live at the end of a dead end road. There is one house across the street and one after me. Nobody to really look at or enjoy them even if I did. I almost didn't even put up any indoor decorations this year. I finally broke down and put up my small table top tree.

We have a beatup skiing polar bear and one of those deer covered in white lights that we put out. No house lights and I ripped out all the bushes. So it's just the bear and the deer. I think next year we'll have to replace them.

Our lights aren't going to be up for awhile. DH is out of town for a week. But he usually puts on a good light display. We try to add to it every year.

Weather was in the low 60's yesterday so I put ours up in the morning. We have about 1,200 lights. I'm thinking about putting some in the back, too, so my neighbors can see the lights in the woods.

We don't put up lights on the outside. DH loves that sort of stuff, but he doesn't actually pay the power bill. One of our neighbors does a really tasteful display with a spotlight on Santa in a sleigh. The rest of the neighbors apparently collect blow-ups. The poor things look so sad on my way to work in the morning because they are just deflated blobs on the lawn.

Karma and shout out to the fellow Griswalds.
We've got almost all the tacky lights up except our blow up Santa in the bass boat seems to have sprung a leak. DH is working on that. But the lighted flamingo, alligator, dolphin, angel, etc. seem to have held up another year.

I really want to add one of those horrible Christmas music boxes to our light display and have the lights blink in time. I'm afraid our neighbors will destroy it.

I put some ornaments in a glass vase on the counter and DH told me it looked like a Macy's Christmas display and was far too classy for our house. He can't stand white lights, he wants multicolored, with tinsel, and beads.

DF and I helped my parents decorate their home over Thanksgiving weekend. They have a neat Santa, Sleigh and Reindeer display that goes in teh front. It was made by my dad and a friend of ours that was a retired master carpenter. My mother, the artist, painted them all beautifully. They also have 3 indoor christmas trees and so many beautiful wreaths and decorations.
So fast forward to my house. I have hung exactly ONE christmas decoration, the wreath that I made to go over the mantle. We fail at having our lights up, or even the tree removed from the attic. I hope to get some done this week, it's depressing to see so many people lit up and have nothing myself. Our house looks sad

Well, I have 4 pine trees lit up. There are 6 new sets so there is at least 20 sets of lights on the trees. 1/2 are the LED ones.
In front of my house I have 6 sets of net lights if I remember correctly and two strands on another tree. I bought three more sets of net lights for the front and my Mom told me she has some to give me - she took her shrubs out last year so she does not have bushes to put them on.
DD and I stopped at Mom's house last night. You would think she lives on Candy Cane Lane. Just about every house in the neighborhood is lit up with a huge display. Mom's neighbor hood is much more middle class than mine. My neighbors must struggle to pay the heat and mortgage for their 2300-3,000 sq foot homes. Her neighborhood is older and the houses are 1,000 sq feet to 2,000 at the largest.
Mom has a neighbor that has a huge sleigh with the Grinch from the Grinch who stole Christmas. She has another neighbor with all kinds of penguins/north pole theme. I think they are competing with each other for a creativity award.
PS. I really put the outside lights up for me. I love to come home and see the house lit up. My outside lights are up. Inside. Meh. Maybe by Christmas eve. DH has to get done remodeling - until then the house is in a state of chaos. DB and DSIL agreed to have X-Mas at their house, so no pressure.

Are your Christmas Lights up? Yup. The weekend after Thanksgiving. How many strings of lights does your house don? Hmmm.... 10 or so? They're short, LED strings. How are they arranged? Multi colored strings wrapped around the front of the house at the top of level one, a subtle green around the front fence. There are handsome blue LEDs in the front yard tree. I put LEDs inside the upper windows keeping DH from having to reach that ladder height. ;D Do you have other outdoor decorations? A NOEL sign on the front door. I'm reluctant to spend for inflatables, etc., b/c people steal them.

The weather was nice the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so that's when our lights went up. Being in a townhouse, space is limited, but I do have 3 strings of icicle lights about our porch, and about 4 strings of mini lights on the bushes in front of the place. We also have a lit 4 foot Santa and Frosty on either side of the front door. Umm, I mean they are lit with lights. Not lit from the egg nog.

I still have some Hallowe'en decorations up. I like my metal spiderwebs. They're staying up. As for Christmas stuff? Nothing outside. I will hang the traditional Christmas stocking that Santa fills up with condoms for my son. The cat gets a stocking too, with toys and cat crack in it. (Friskees Temptations)
