Good luck Steve. If the world does not end, we'll know that you succeeded. I'm as ready as I'll ever be, but if you have found a way to avert the world ending/doomsday, all power to you.

My daughter is home from college. We all know that college kids know EVERYTHING! LOL!
But, she says that the Mayan calendar doesn't end, it just recycles. That is, they just start over. So, the world won't end. The dates just repeat.
Deja vu all over again.

I had heard somewhere that the Mayan calendar didn't account for leap years...
So technically, the world was supposed to end 3-4 years ago.

What is really going on, with you. Steve. Hope, all is well. The world is not going to end anytime soon, and we care. And who cares about Mayan.

The earth is only 6000 years old. It's also flat, and we enjoy watching the sun revolve around it.

I had heard somewhere that the Mayan calendar didn't account for leap years... So technically, the world was supposed to end 3-4 years ago. You're correct and incorrect at the same time. The Mayans didn't account for 'leap years' - but they only counted days - in the Mayan long count calendar, there is no difference to be accounted for - the calendar is based on the solar cycle. Here is a definition of the Mayan calendar counting system. Representation | Long Count subdivisions | Days | ~ solar years | 0.0.0.0.1 | 1 k'in | 1 | 1/365 | 0.0.0.1.0 | 1 winal = 20 k'in | 20 | 0.055 | 0.0.1.0.0 | 1 tun = 18 winal | 360 | 0.986 | 0.1.0.0.0 | 1 k'atun = 20 tun | 7200 | 19.71 | 1.0.0.0.0 | 1 b'ak'tun = 20 k'atun | 144000 | 394.3 |
The current b'ak'tun ends on 12/21. Today's Mayan date is 12.19.19.17.1 .
