Not going to look. So Virgil are you bubbling with glee today? Two tickets won with unknown numbers of ticket holders and the odds of winning anything were 1 in 32. I didn't play, but I did work on some strategy.

Excerpted from a modly thread: Other Mods: It's rude to post walls of text. Whatever your "message" is, I'd be willing to bet it can be couched in fewer than fifty words. Virgil: It can and it can't. The message, concisely delivered, is "You will not win the lottery." Which is a true statement, albeit pointless, since the natural response is "But maybe I will win the lottery." Now, if a poster is subjected to an exercise where he must scroll through thousands upon thousands of names, and he realizes from the preamble that this is just one of hundreds of thousands of such pages, he gets a more visceral, memorable idea of how absurdly unlikely it is that his page and his name on that page will be selected at random. Hence, there is a purpose to the wall of text. And let us consider why we have a "No walls of text" rule in the CoC. Firstly, because as you say, scrolling can become tedious. In this case: good. I want it to be tedious. I want people to realize that it's a tedious matter simply to represent the relative likelihood of losing the lottery. Secondly: because walls of text are usually a major reproduction of some copyrighted work, which obviously doesn't apply in this case. Other Mods: Excuse rejected. Nukeums. *sigh* But let it never be said that mods are above the law.
