I can't wear Angel perfume. My DH bought it for me when we were dating because my name is Angel....but it smelled so much like I bathed in sugar oil that I couldn't stomach the smell.

I like Angel and would wear it - except for the it's first 30 - 40 minutes of industrial oil and machinery tinny nastiness almost retch inducing reek... I wish I was willing to live thru that repeatedly... it's an interesting scent once it settles down. Angel and I do not get along very well. Since scents differ from person to person, I'd recommend something small or maybe a sampler kinda thing - that way they can try out the scents and see which ones smell OK. I like 'lemon' or citris based scents on guys - unfortunately sometimes they wind up smelling like old Timey Furniture Polish (Pledge). Cologne/purfume reacts differently on each person. Tiny, I totally agree on the Angel. It does have a strong odd scent at first. I wonder what that is? Angel is my new favorite. A lot of people comment on the Sephora website that the top note is gross and super strong but it calms down into something awesome. I'm getting myself some of the hair mist. While I am never impressed with celebrity endorsed scents for the name attached, I do like Jennifer Aniston's scent. Very summer. My oldest is an Axe over user and yes, Axe and BO can kill a large elephant with the right mixture. My youngest likes Old Spice original. I am going to get him some for Christmas.

Tiny, I totally agree on the Angel. It does have a strong odd scent at first. I wonder what that is? Angel (for women) has no flower scents in it... it's all food with some sort of top note that's got a synthetic stink (chocolate? motor oil?) when I wear it. Once it settles down I love the vanilla/bergamot that's left behind- at least those are what lingers with my body chemistry (or whatever they say it is). If I could just get the vanilla/bergamot scent right off the start I'd bathe in Angel. I tend to like the chypre perfumes - but those tend to old fashion and in the 'evening', 'mature' or 'agressive' category. Angel kinda falls into those categories - it's not flowery or sweet and definitely assaults one's sense of smell If it's the one I'm thinking of it's patchouli your smelling I hate that perfume!

Make sure you get the Polo Black or Double Black. It seems to be what the younger guys like.

For men, I like the original Swiss Army scent. I used to buy it for my brother since it was also his favorite.
For myself, I really like lighter scents. Lately the DKNY Pure line has been my favorite (they have original, verbena, and rose something).
