I watched the movie called "Lbs" this weekend. It was about a guy addicted to food. It was a really good story, and was a somewhat classic movie about addiction - but this time food, not alcohol (like 28 days) or drugs (like Less than Zero.) This was the first time I saw the addiction theme applied to food. It was good. I thought the guy did a good job.
Has anyone else seen it?

It's an interesting subject, thyme. And people who are addicted to food aren't always over weight. I probably have some form of food addiction because I use it as comfort and as a stress reliever. I haven't seen the movie, tho. It bothers me to watch that sort of thing cause then I spend hours lying awake feeling bad for the person.

I've been watching the Weight of the Nation. I think of food as an addiction in certain aspects - it provides a nice chemical uplift for people.

I am having a problem with overeating and can't seem to control it with will power. I am fine all day like today there are donuts in the next room but I am ignoring them. If I ate a donut I would want all the donuts and only will power or the fear of being seen as greedy or selfish would stop me. When I start eating I never get satisified so stop still wanting more most of the time. Yesterday for example I ate a huge bowl of soup probably 10 cups about 6 slices of bread, three slices of ham and 10 cups of popcorn, a bowl of broccoli and a couple of cups of raw cabbage. I am trying to lose weight so no meat in the soup mostly veggies with a few beans no butter on the bread, or veggies and the popcorn is always air popped with cinnimon. The ham was the only bad thing I ate and I only meant to eat one small slice but ate it all. I am trying not to eat salt or fat but wish I knew how to not eat huge amounts when nobody is looking. I have lost 60+ pounds this year but if I had self control I could lose more.

If it was like ham / lunchmeat, then you probably only ate 150 calories in ham. But the 6 slices of breat was probably 500 calories. And the popcorn was at least 300 calories. So, between the bread and the popcorn, you took in half the calories you needed. But the ham was less than 10% of your alloted calories for the day.
Now, if you think the ham was bad because of the salt - you are probably right.

The ham was not lunch meat it was probably 10oz of ham and the salt is very bad for me. I am watching carbs too and only supposed to have 45 per meal and 15 per snack so 2 bread is a meal and I shouldn't have anything with it like soup or popcorn. I forgot I also ate a bowl of roasted beets they are bad too very high carb but I didn't put butter on them. I need more will power so I can go to bed hungry instead of eating at night.

Have you ever eaten a large amount of food and feel "full" but still have a "hollow" feeling? THAT'S lack of fats. Your brain NEEDS fats to function. You need fats to get your vitamins A and E (the fat-soluble ones). Popular dieting culture has demonized fats to our detriment. When food manufacturers began pulling fats out of foods, they replaced them with HFCS - and look at us now. Try homemade salad dressing with a good olive oil and no sugar. Smear a slice of avocado on your sandwich bread instead of mayo. Drizzle your eggs with flaxseed oil. Saute food gently in a small amount of coconut oil. Put nuts (almond, walnut, cashew) in your smoothie. Smear some ghee on your toast and top it with cinnamon. If you can stand it, take a tablespoon of fish oil straight up every day. Eat (small cup!) full-fat organic yogurt. Dress your food with homemade pesto made with a good olive oil. Good luck to you - and eat good fats!
