I've enjoyed both of you in my lifetime. So farewell Twinkies and Ho-Hos, at least until some company buys your production rights. Junk food rules! What's your favorite?

Utz Red Hot chips. They only seem to sell/stock them in the NE - now that we're back in the Utz-free Midwest I pay $50 for a huge box of individual bags and have them shipped. Yes, I have a problem. PS - if any of you New Yorkers have access to the jumbo bags, PM me!!!

I hear there's a 12 step program for that. Step one, buy in bulk!

When I get really stressed I like to eat the Hostess Ding Dongs. Goose tried to hide a box from me once. I found them and ate the whole thing. I would leave the wrappers on his pillow...in his sink, etc. He finally asked me if I was going to tell him where I hid the ding dongs. Yup...I ATE THEM ALL!!!!

I like Little Debbie Swiss Rolls better than Ho Ho's and Twinkies aren't a 'food'. I do love Hostess Cupcakes, Bimbo's Bimbunuelos, and of course Swiss Rolls (the Aldi one's are acceptable).

I used to LOVE Chester Cheetah Popcorn. I had it for a few years but haven't seen it since. Now all I see is the cheese popcorn kind or the "puff" popcorn.
I also used to devour the hostess cupcakes with the little white swirly frosting ribbon on top.

Now what are they going to deep fry at the State Fair? Damn you Hostess! Is this really a concern after "deep fried butter"? I think they'll find something suitable, you'll have options:) ETA: Just noticed I crossed the 5,000 post mark. And I wrote about deep fried butter with it? Sad.

My mother's favorite is the Hostess Snowball and my dad's is the Hostess Suzy Q.
I don't eat these much but I still hate to see them shut down. I remember when I was a kid getting 1 out of the freezer everyday to take to school in my lunch.

Zingers. They've been my favorite junk food indulgence since college.

Savory foods are my comfort, oddly enough. So blue cheese with figs, brussel sprouts, sauteed mushrooms. As it turns out you can gain weight on foods other than sugar.

Crunchy Cheetos and Pringles original flavor for salty foods. For sweet I love Ghiradelli chocolate mint squares. Oh, and then Trader Joe's dark chocolate covered cherries.

Maybe it's because Americans have broader junk food selections, but I've never heard of ring dings, zingers, snowballs, Suzy Qs, Chester Cheetah popcorn, Debbie Swiss rolls, Ho Hos, Bimbo's Bimbunuelos, ding dongs, Utz chips, or nutty bars. I can't even guess at what half of them are. Lays chips and Reese's cups I have seen. I enjoy dark chocolate. And on the rare occasions when I can get them, caramel apples with nuts. *slurrp*

Virgil, you made me curious so I found an article on Canadian candy. I do like Cadbury chocolates and know that they have a bigger range than what we get here in the U.S. but I have never heard of any these on the writers list of favorites. blogs.villagevoice.com/forkintheroad/2010/10/canadian_candy.phpETA: I have got to try Mr. Big. ;D

They're ubiquitous here. You'd find pretty much all of them in any convenience store. (The Mr. Big chocolate bars are indeed tasty.) The remarkable thing is that many of the products are available only in Canada because they were unmarketable in the US. But I know for a fact that brands like Hostess, etc. had very little penetration north of the US for the same reason: not enough people here really "liked" their confections. It's strange how strong and specific our preferences can become.

The Cadbury Crunchie isn't bad. The article says that Americans hate this candy bar. I wonder why?

Well, they're not gone. Apparently the two sides agreed on mediation.
