Stock Pick of the Week: W. E. 9 Nov. 2012

UNCLE,......I know you've been watching this market probably as long as I have... we don't call it the bumps and grinds....but rather it's the "SPIKES AND CRASHES"....Do you remember the morning of Oct.19, 1987 ?...I certainly do. I think the Dow was down about 25% that day. I had a friend that was a floor trader then in the OEX pits of the Chicago Board of Options....he had some wild stories of that day.

Arch - I may still be "young" in many folks eyes, but I remember that day. I was still a kid, but My Uncle and My Grandmother were not in any sort of a good mood that day. I wouldn't expect anyone to have been, as it looked like massive amounts of capital had been vaporized..
But, that day was a prime example of "Buy when there is blood in the streets, even if it is yours" - which is what my Uncle and Grandmother did.

Don't spend everything until you see if they take more % off or are putting up the "Going out of business" signs.

Value - Just a thought, the Utilities Sector is and has been very "hot" - many would argue to the point of being severely overbought.
There were a couple of very muted articles a couple months back that put forth the idea that the Utilities Sector might pull back from 20% to 40% in any sort of real market correction.

Another thought for R.L. - Utilities historically have been a very good and consist ant place for folks who Seek Dividends to look. They Might not be as sexy as a Ferrari, but they generally run well.

I faded very early last night; so I'm here for a short time (Insomnia), just to check the numbers. It's 3am Texas time. Clark, you run a great contest; but the saddest part is I don't own any of the stock I selected (strictly by it's chart ). My "horses" performance surprised me as much as it probably did you'all.
