Did anyone here watch Persons Unknown? Terra Nova? Survivors? All good shows which ended abruptly without "finshing" the story. I also would have liked more Jericho, more Doll House, and less Heroes ("carnival" storyline of last season was subpar, IMO). I watched Terra Nova. I found it kind of fun because I'm a big kid who likes dinosaurs, but I wouldn't say it was that great of a show (tried to be sophisticated and sci-fi without really nailing the theory they were working from on the sci fi area). Also super expensive and not widely watched. The advantage of Walking Dead is that it's a big ratings for their network and minimal CGI which is expensive.

We watched Terra Nova, Heroes, Doll House, Jericho etc. I enjoyed all of them and would rather have more shows like that then the 10 millionth version of Dancing with the Has-beens, X-Voice-Idol, etc. But I seem to be in the minority because the decent well written shows fail while the mind numbingly boring reality competition shows last season after season after season.

I agree TN wasn't a great show, but it was a good show and I would have liked the story to finish. If you've never seen Persons Unknown, I recommend it. It's unique I think (never seen anything similar) and keeps you guessing the whole way through. It's on Netflix.

But I seem to be in the minority because the decent well written shows fail while the mind numbingly boring reality competition shows last season after season after season I was really getting into Happy Town and then it was canceled to be replaced by "Winter Wipeout". I told DH I think the show failed because it required people to follow a storyline and think. They did finish the first season online but the ending was a cliffhanger so you still don't know how the series turned out.

I don't understand the appeal of those shows, either. I do like the reality show Sister Wives, because I find it so amusing and I never tire of trying to wrap my head around it.

Never heard of Happy Town, but I'm going to watch it next if it's on Netflix, thanks. Right now, we're watching "Revenge". Any other recs for good shows?

I like Haven, but haven't seen it regularly due to not having cable at home. My parents LOVE IT, and Mom has good taste in TV

We watch
Walkind Dead (AMC) Boardwalk Empire (HBO)
Breaking Bad (AMC)
True Blood (HBO)
Supernatural (WB)
DH enjoys Hell on Wheels (AMC) but he has heard they aren't being renewed for a third season, that's why the series finale ended like it did.

The Walking Dead is probably the only show that would qualify me for the cool kids club. All the others are on the CW (and Grey's Anatomy)....don't judge me. I feel I have to think too much at work as it is...

Right now, we're watching "Revenge". Any other recs for good shows? 'Revenge' is a great show. I was the one trying to get my wife to watch it with me because she wasn't at all interested about it premiering and she watched the first 2 episodes and now she is hooked. A good new show that I didn't think I'd be that interested in because I'm not into cop, law, fire shows is 'Chicago Fire'. It's actually a pretty decent show. Oh and mandy...don't worry about your CW show fix. My wife is a bit younger than me and I've apparently been trained to watch the crap on the CW AND ABC Family.

Going back in time a bit, there was 'Carnivale" on HBO, an abolutely wonderfully creepy series about a depression era traveling carnival with supernatural overtones.
I absoutely loved it, but as with most shows I really like, it didn't get renewed, so it ended with a cliff hanger. Worth watching on Netflix though.
Right now the only shows I go out of the way to watch are almost all on AMC - Walking Dead, Mad Men, Breaking Bad.

Did anyone else watch Alcatraz? It was a midseason Fox show last year about inmates and guards from alcatraz in the 60's showing up in present day. I got pretty into it and they canceled it unceremoniously
