I hope this is true, although I understand the "article" to be a marketing release. I'm sick of stainless steel. I don't really like the look of it (actually, I'm okay with the smaller appliances, but I hate SS fridges.) Plus, I want all those snotty people on HGTV that insisted on SS appliances to now understand how everything becomes dated. www.refrigeratorinfo.com/News/So-Long-Stainless-Whirlpool-Introduces-a-New-Finish-For-Premium-Kitchens.htm?utm_source=taboola&utm_medium=cpcSo Long, Stainless: Whirlpool Introduces a New Finish For Premium KitchensThe stainless steel appliance hegemony has ended. On Monday, Whirlpool introduced a new premium exterior finish that they call “White Ice.” With clean lines, silver accents and streamlined controls, the new collection’s refrigerator, range, dishwasher, and microwave are a departure from the flash and glitz of stainless steel and its many lookalikes. In fact, the combination of a white finish, stainless handles and mirrored glass appear to have a lot in common with Apple’s popular design language.

well, shit. I hope I can sell my place soon then, since I just put in SS at the insistence of my realtor.

LOL! I was just now finally starting to like the stainless look and then when I was searching for appliances I found the white ice. I might as well keep what I have. We just call it white. Maybe we can add the new handles and pretend it's the new white ice.

Had stainless and absolutly hated it. I have replaced the fridge microwave and dishwasher with black appliances. When the stove dies it will be replaced with black.

I hate stainless steel but the white looks cheap. Actually I don't mind the stainless steel that much, except for the damn fingerprints! You'd think they'd sell some kind of sealer that would guard against them. (Do they? I hope?)

I used to have black appliances and they were really hard to keep clean. Like Stainless Steel. But that was years ago. Although my neighbor has black and when we had dinner over there or I'd watch her cats hers were always smeared looking. I'd help with dishes and clean up sometimes and they were a bitch to polish! I guess I'll keep my cheap looking white appliances. ;D

Woo hoo! Finally! I've got better things to do than wipe off fingerprints every 10 minutes! Sure, that sparkling white looks easy to keep clean too.

My house will be terribly out of fashion during that trend then.

It's only a matter of time before avocado green appliances come back into fashion... I kind of like the aqua ones that predated them. I think colored appliances will stay less fashionable except for washers/dryers. I think various manufacturers have tried copper and bronze looks but dropped them.

I do like the red washer and dryers they came out. But we have no need for front loaders. But they were gorgeous and I was tempted to get them anyway. Thankfully I'm too cheap. ;D

I like stainless steel. I've never thought it was flashy. I think it looks classy. We have them. I like them.

I don't see them going out of style anytime soon - to be honest. I'd still get them if I can't find anything I like better when I need to replace mine. Just like granite - still very popular and I can remember reading years ago how they were out. But they aren't.

I finally got a SS fridge last year and now I hate the finish! It never looks good even when I've just polished it. It seems to have some kind of "stipe" across one of the doors - I think it's from where the plastic covered the doors when it was delivered. I've never been able to polish that stripe out. Ugh!
Anyone know a way to make SS shine like on the TV shows?

I like the SS appliances, but I've never EVER liked stainless steel sinks!!!!. If it wasn't for the granite, I'd switch that thing out in a heartbeat. However, I don't want to rework the granite and spend even more.

It doesn't matter what you do. It is going to become "dated". That is why i quit watching HGTV and listening to the constant call to upgrade and now i only buy what i like and want.

I wound up ordering black for the kitchen remodel. I would prefer 'bisque' but no one seems to be making it any more. SS and fingerprints are a pain but a bigger problem is the etching that can happen if you live in an area with hard water like parts of AZ and So. CA. Seems like an especially stupid problem for a dishwasher. Had I know about it I never would have gotten the stainless option.

This may be off topic, but I'm always shocked at how much kitcehn appliances cost. You're talking ten thousand dollars minimum to furnish a kitechen, and can go much higher.

I never bought any of the stainless steal. When I bought new appliances for my house in Michigan I bought white. I didn't buy the basic models, they were good models/brands...just white. I just never got into the stainless steal look.

I think it's brilliant. You still have the stainless handles so it looks modern and SS, but yet white goes with everything. It solves the one SS issue (fingerprints) and probably the magnetism issue (SS fridges often can't hold magnets). I won't buy one, but from a marketing perspective I think the idea is solid - and I agree there is a subtle Apple look that may subconsciously help with sales.

It is only that expensive if you buy the high end stuff. You can get a working electric stove with an oven for $350 or for $10,000 depending on your tastes.
