Customer just came and I asked how was her son doing in college. She beemed proudly said that he was accepted by some psychology society and for $45 they will be honoring him with something...and I went 'know it all' style - 'you've got to be kidding me, right?' Her husband was with me on this like 'check them with BBB first and see if they are even legit'...
So we kind of took her promise to have them checked out and google etc...
How easy is that to get us parents to shed the money we don't have to see our kids being 'honored' by whomever! Crazy huh!

I get emails every day offering to nominate me as one of the top influencial business women in the Phoenix area. Or to list me in the book of trusted professionals or whatever.
You broke that lady's heart. The $45 would be well spent. She would have felt really proud, and never known. But you crushed her.

Heck, for ten bucks, you can honor me. Just send it; I'd be honored to get it, and I'm a lot cheaper than that lady's college student kid.

$45 is cheap... They asked my wife for $300 to have her listed on the Who's Who in the Public Health field. You know my answer already right

DS got invited to an "honor society" in college. It was $75. It was an honor society officially recognized by the school, but I'm pretty sure that for prestigious honors, you don't have to pay.
When my kids were in HS, they would always get offers for various national honor groups that required money (if you read the fine print). Lots of "leadership conferences", which cost lots of $$$ and who's who type things where you get your name published in a book. Never did any. We did have to pay $10 dues for National Honor Society, but that was the only one.

The scariest part about all this is the fact that anyone asks loony about financial matters. Seriously...how bad off are these people that getting money advice from loony seems like a good idea?

The scariest part about all this is the fact that anyone asks loony about financial matters. Seriously...how bad off are these people that getting money advice from loony seems like a good idea? FT! I am seriously worry about you being obsessed with me. Should I be nervous about you coming down to my store and giving me a hickie? It's crazy I tell you! Because first of all I never said someone ASKED me for financial advise. How and where have you seen that someone asked me for financial advice? I have posted following: Customer just came and I asked how was her son doing in college. She beemed proudly said that he was accepted by some psychology society and for $45 they will be honoring him with somethingWHERE have you seen asking for financial advise??? It seems like you can't wait for me to post...then you run and read and thinking about something entirely different - you replying....having something else on your mind!!! Because NONE of your posts/replies to my posts MAKE ANY SENSE!!! So sober up and return to the forum where there is no me posting...relax and enjoy your life...without me. I am unavailable. Door is closed. You are out. Tootles

loony - We all know you've posted before about "customer" coming to you asking how you're doing so well. You've said as much yourself. However you seem to have a one track mind and can only focus on one thing. If it isn't something you haven't specifically asked...then you don't want the answer. There are dozens upon dozens of your threads as proof of evidence. It's just your MO.
However, in this scenario....the mother was telling you about something and you chose to give her the "are you kidding me" speech so you put yourself right in the middle of giving her money advice whether you like it or not. She may not have asked for it....thankfully....but you're still giving your opinion on how she should spend her money.
And don't worry....while I know where your store is located...I have zero desire to ever actually walk in the place.
Do you promise that when I return to the forums that there will be "no you posting"? It would save a lot of us wasted time trying to help you out.

Ahhhhhhhhh...I didn't mean to upset you by brushing you off...I thought you are stronger!
And you are again off by much printing:
However, in this scenario....the mother was telling you about something and you chose to give her the "are you kidding me" speech so you put yourself right in the middle of giving her money advice whether you like it or not.
It was not 'money' advise. It was 'honor for money is not an honor' eye opening! I was just talking to her. As people talk...you know? I hope you do.
And for you to have 'no me' forum you just have to stop reading my posts and replying to me. You can create that 'no looney' forum as 1-2-3! So go tiger! Do it. Ignore me...please?

Getting a college degree is an "honor".
You pay for that degree do you not? Therefore you are paying for an honor.
There are many other examples that you pay for things that some consider an honor. Just sayin'.
Ignore you? Nah.....it's fun to watch and be a part of your train wrecks. You are pure joy and entertainment for me. I laugh so hard at a "loony" thread. Thanks for the laughs.

A lot of official college honor societies have dues and initiation fees. On some level, that is a rip off, but it is somewhat different than the Who's Who thing. That said, my son was invited to join one of them, and he threw the letter away. He said, "I don't want to pay the $$$." (Not much). I thought of it as something to put on his resume; it was something like a business honor society. But he won out. Did I mention he is now a cpa?

Okay, that's more than enough nastiness, Financial Texan. Tloonya didn't ask for that. Now, get back on the subject of monies paid for "honors" and off the subject of the poster.

Eventually universities will start issuing their own currencies in units of GPA on a floating exchange rate with the USD.
Thus, the student of the future can cash in his 2.60 GPA from the University of Phoenix, add $400.00, and purchase 1.00 units of GPA from the University of California, Berkeley, to be applied to any course(s) of his choosing.

Deleted - Not worth the hassle and I already know the answer since there are multiple threads of evidence.

Is this is somehow a joke? So anyone who didn't want to study at school can become a Harvard student?
