If anyone has been on the Verizon website recently and renewed a discounted version of their current package I could use your help. I think a reduced cost package of what I have now does exist but I don't see it or even get the option to look for it if I make the mistake of logging in and asking to renew or upgrade my services. Of course really all I want to do is keep what I have if it exists in a cheaper package otherwise I need to drop it. Of course when the window comes up it doesn't seem to allow me to check on package pricing for what I currently have. It of course wants to throw me into more services which are just not in my budget nor desireable for me anyway. Any suggestions? I'm also wondering if I might have to try on a library computer as mine is old with minimal memory so some things do not work at home like they do elsewhere. (Had to shutdown my laptop to keep the stupid Verizon window from auto-spawning. I guess they don't like No means No. )

Good luck on trying to get a discount while being a current customer. I had Verizon years ago, and they absolutely refused to consider offering me anything - until after I cancelled. I have been with Time Warner ever since. And now they are playing the same games. Sorry, no discounts available, those are for new customers only. So I may have to switch back to Verizon and give Fios a try.
Even if you are not logged in, companies store 'cookies' on your computer, that tell them who you are. Maybe try deleting these, and clearing your cache, to see if you can get a fresh look at their website.

Fios isn't offered in my area and my DSL speed is quite slow because of the onsite wiring. My other choice has better internet but only phone over VOIP. I'd prefer to stay away from that unless someone drops a VOIP compatible phone in my hands for free. I'm tempted to find a cheap smartphone package and drop everything entirely however I can already tell my willingness to go to the library to do Internet stuff is really low even if it takes twice as long and some reboots to do it from home.

I went round and round with Verizon, trying to change my bundle when the previous one expired. went through 4 different customer service reps at 4 different times and they still could not get it right. there is no communication within the company of whats available. When I got the latest bill, they still had not removed a movie package, took another phone call. the next day a cute girl from com cast showed up, they beat the price, gave faster Internet speed, voice and HBO and Encore for free for the duration of the contract and 150.00 credit to offset the penalty for canceling Verizon. We switched. When I returned the boxes to Verizon they offered then to beat the com cast deal if I would switch back to them. 2 weeks later Verizon sends prepaid cardboard mailers to return the set top boxes that I dropped off. Wasteful!! For a communication company they don't do a good job of internal communication. IMO, they all s**k and I'll be less than satisfied with com cast eventually and will be bitching about them

Under the My Verizon tab go to "Change Minutes, Text or Data". There you should get a complete breakdown by costs & what other options are available & their associated costs. If you are currently on a share plan, now they have share everything plans available that might save you money. There should be a link on the bottom if that is applicable.
Another option is to go into a store & talk. I've found that the Best Buy Mobile retailors are far more helpful & have cheaper phones than if you go to a verizon store.
If you are looking for a discount beyond the normal pricing, then you will have to make phone calls & go round & round. Pretty much you have to be willing to cancel the service to get offered anything.

I have VoIP through my cable provider and I didn't have to buy a special phone. The modem has a regular old phone jack in it.

I have T-Mobile but I had to go into the dang support area and find mention of Value pricing in the chat area. It's a little easier to find on their site now but IDK about Verizon, you may still have to dig to find their budget prices.

Justme, thanks for the VOIP phone info. If they do the same thing I probably should just switch to Optimum then.

Good luck! Verizon wouldn't give me any discounts as a current customer :-( Opti, I ran into the very same problem recently, and I have FIOS and a 9 month old computer, so it wasn't a internet speed or memory issue. They make it incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to find a basic pricing plan from which to build a custom package or even understand a pre-packaged deal. I am tempted to go with Comcast, but, I really need a land line for emergencies (the kids' anaphylactic food allergies). If cable goes down, then I won't have the land line. (I know phone lines go down to, but it hasn't happened in the more than 2 years we've had FIOS). It's an election year. I am at the point that I would vote for ANYONE regardless of other stances if they would promise to make cable/internet/phone pricing more user-friendly and allow subscribers to pick and choose individual television stations to create custom bundles. ETA: Forgot to add that you should give the library computer a try. I never thought to search the Verizon website from a different computer. I think it would be worth the time because, IIRC, when we first looked into FIOS 2 years ago, we had access to far more pricing information that we do now because we were recognized as a potential new account. Existing customers should also have that access, buuuutttt....

I called Verizon customer service earlier this year and asked them for a discount and they cut $30 a month off my bill. It doesn't hurt to try calling them and see if you get anywhere.

For cell phone or internet service?
For internet service call them for the cheaper, slower packages. I told them I was cancelling if they didn't give me a reasonable monthly price without contract. They wouldn't & lost both my Inet and Phone line business 4 years ago. I have never gotten a phone call from them, just get flyers every now and then, but I just toss them.
For cell phone plans MANY employers have discounting programs you can use for your personal plan. Because of my employer I get a 20% discount on the cell phone rate. Please note that the company doesn't seem to know this OR to promote it . . . the Verizon person (kiosk) asked me who I worked for and then checked it. Voila - savings!

I've been running into the same issue. If you call customer service and tell them you want to upgrade but not change your package, you can get further.
I have my mother on my plan with an absolute bare bones (phone only, no text or data) plan. If I went with what they wanted online, I'd go from $9.99/month to $40/month for her line. I also have DD1 on my plan and I want to keep her charges separate from mine because she reimburses me for her line. I called CS and explained this to the lady and told her that I did not want to share anything between the 3 lines. She punched a few keys and said I could upgrade and keep everything separate.
I haven't done it yet because I haven't decided on the phone I want (what I really want is not what is available for "free"). Plus, I'll lose my unlimited data when I upgrade even by keeping everything separate because they no longer offer that so I'm hoping to save up and buy the phone I really want and just switch over without having to upgrade and lock into another 2 year contract.
