Are my new "thing". I went to a couple for the first time ever 2 weeks ago and I ended up buying a pair of Seven For All Mankind jeans and a pair of Armani Exchange jeans for a total of $40! The Sevens fit like a glove and make my ass look great! And I just bought a pair of Russh Mode jeans at another consignment shop (original tags still on them) for $35! I saw some lovely shoes at all of them, but I don't know about wearing used shoes. Or used shirts. But jeans and handbags, sure! ;D

I am a total convert when it comes to "used" shoes. Most of the pairs I own came from Goodwill. They were barely used or well taken care of. There was no signs of wear on the soles, heels or toe of the shoes. The majority of them are 100% leather.
The boots I am wearing right now came from Goodwill. I got them for $5, similar pair at K-mart goes for $35.

I can't do used shoes, unless they have absolutely no wear (mom was against them, her feet are in horrible shape after her sister borrowed her shoes for a parade, shoes molded to her sister's feet, mom had to wear them anyway because they were poor, life long foot problems after ) I won't do used underwear either, but everything else Once I get back in shape I should have a lot more options buying second-hand.

I'm always surprised at how many things I can find that still have tags on them. Two of the sweaters I bought the last time I went to Goodwill still had the tags on them. Oh well, their loss. The brown one I bought makes my boobies look awesome! ;D I have another one that still had its tags and the tag said the original price was $60. I got it for $4.

I have a complex about used clothing. I kind of wish I didn't though. I could get some killer deals! But I just can't do it.

Andi, I didn't really think about it until I wore the jeans. But even then it didn't bother me much. I washed them before I wore them.... and if people knew about some of the issues that new clothes can have, they would be more concerned about new clothes than used ones....

A friend of mine scours the Salvation Army stores for gently used quality clothes, purses and small appliances She then sells them on Ebay and actually makes a decent profit.

MJ, there is a disinfectant spray you can use on the shoes. Pass on the undies.

Love love love consignment stores! You can get a lot of great clothing there. (But I agree to skip the shoes and undies . . . .)

I buy jeans at the consignment store near us. I get good prices - not $5 or anything - more like $25-$35 for designer jeans. They usually have some wear on them. I still have to buy some jeans new because they never have the really long ones at the consignment store, so I can get jeans for when I wear flats, but I need to spend the cha-ching for jeans to wear with my heels.

I don't have much luck with consignment stores. Maybe it's just the ones near me, but everything seems really overpriced for used stuff. I was in one last week trying to find DS a couple sweatshirts and they were all in the $15 range. I can get new ones at Costco for $12.

I don't have good luck at consignment stores. Maybe because I live in a poor area, and most people are giving away Walmart clothes?

I LOVE consignment stores. I have been looking for ones here, but mostly I am only finding used furniture.

I've never bought from or sold to a consignment store, but a co-worker just told me about a really nice consignment shop that looks for maternity clothes. I have a ton of those to unload. I'm going to take some stuff there and see how it does. My maternity clothes are in really good shape.

Well, consignment stores are somewhat different from thrift stores like the Salvation army. Consignment stores usually have the better name brands (they would never take Walmart stufff) nor are their clients exactly giving it away. You spend $4 for a pair of jeans at the thrift store and $35-$40 for the really good ones at a consignment store.

I bought a $600 black leather hobo bag in pristine condition at the Salvation Army for $5.99. I LOVE that purse.

You spend $4 for a pair of jeans at the thrift store and $35-$40 for the really good ones at a consignment store. And depending on the shop, they don't accept anything more than a couple of seasons old. We have some fantastic consignment shops that have great vintage finds and others that are very current and high-end. If I don't get a wedding dress from Nicole Miller or J. Crew, then I'm heading to a bridal consignment shop around here. Once or never worn dresses, no more than two years old.
