My 2.5 y/o DS plays with DD's princess figurines....but I don't think I'd let him dress up as princess for Halloween?? My 8 yo wants our (female) babysitter to play Polly Pockets with him and his 5 yo sister. He does play with the boy doll, though.

That kid isn't even dressed a princess. I don't see no crown, or dress. He's obviously a fairy, and there are male and female fairies. except I think he looks more like a butterfly than a fairy. But still, nothing wrong with it. I think they're pretty cool looking wings.

That's supposed to be a princess? He looks like a butterfly. People can find all sorts of reasons to get their knickers in a twist, can't they? He's a little kid, and I can't imagine trying to make him feel like there is something "wrong" with what he wants to wear for Halloween. It's not like he's going as Hitler or a porn star.

First of all since when do butterfly wings equal princess? But if my son wanted to be a princess for Halloween I would let him. When he was young he really wanted a kitchen set to play with. He didn't just want the stove and fridge either. He wanted the microwave, blender, coffee pot, food, plates, cups dishes, and pots and pans. He did eventually get some of what he wanted. Did I mention the one he wanted was pink and the dishes were pretty frilly? I doubt he would want to be a princess for Halloween. Once he realized that we had candy right in the house for Halloween he can't figure out why he has to dress up and walk around the neighborhood to get it. ETA Jinx Ima. ;D

doesn't everyone have planned marriages for their kids?? No TAX! You are not PLANNING your kid's marriage! (or in your kids case you probably do...and will TELL them whom to marry) You are PAYING for the wedding!!! And you know exaactly what I meant. Do not change the subject... I don't think anyone knows what most of your crazy ramblings mean. Look everyone! We have YM member who doesn't get 'paying for the wedding'! Also taxdaddy when you say 'I don't think anyone knows'... you have to ask anyone...have you asked anyone if they understand my rambling? So far I think you are the only one. So you better learn my language! And btw people today agreed wih me...TWICE!!! So don't waste your time!

A fairy or a dragonfly. He's whatever his little imagination wants him to be.
Sheesh - the kid's maybe 3 yrs old - he's playing make-believe.

Crap, that's not a bad Halloween costume now that I think about it.
A pair of faded jeans, a cucumber stuffed in them, topless, with a big mustache. I wonder if people would get it?

If he's going to grow up gay, wearing wings isn't going to make a whit of difference.

You mean normal people? I have no idea. I'd think it was hilarious. If you're going for that 70s look, you're gonna need some faux chest hair, a big ol' rug of it.

Personally, I'd let the kid wear the princess costume, but I'd be sure to take plenty of pics to show to his first GF when he's older.

It's true that if little girls play with boy toys or dress up in what would traditionally be seen as a boy's costume, no one bats an eye. But if the tables are turned people have an issue. There is a serious double standard.

I wouldn't get upset if my (hypothetical) boy wanted to dress up as a princess, I'd be more concerned about how he'd be treated by the other kids, and probably disallow it just so he wouldn't get made fun of.

I think the little guy looks cute! He could be a fairy king, or a butterfly, or whatever his young imagination has conjured up. Do we really have to start teaching them to hold our prejudiced thoughts at his tender age? I don't think so!

LMAO When my oldest(he will be 16 tomorrow!!!GASP!) was 4, my then SIL had gotten 2 costumes- Raggedy Ann and Andy. The idea was for her 2 girls to wear them. Well the oldest said no way I aint going! So! I said OH we will let my son wear the Andy one...no biggie. LOL He was so happy and all for it. Until his Aunt says come here and let me put your make-up on. HUH LOL She was wanting to put the red circles on his cheeks. Well...that didn't fly. Then when he found out that he was dressed up as a doll....OMG!!! The biggest tears. LOL So I did what any mother would have done(not really) on Halloween night....made him wear the damn thing. He's ok though. Gotta keep reminding him to leave his pants zipped around the girlfriend So. Dressing your little boy up as a doll won't make them gay. Just pissed. Oh and I have a nephew who would put on my DD's dress up princess stuff. Took pics too. He's not 5 yet so no clue if he is gay or not. Not like any of us would care though. We love him! My inlaws also threw a shit fit when I got my middle son a play kitchen. I shut them up with He watches his grandfather cook. OMG he will be gay!!!!!! And let us never watch Food network with ALL those MALE Chefs.
