We Use Coupons. It's a deals forum. I tend to hang out at A Full Cup (AFC).

I'm a little ticked off right now. I went into CVS to check out the stock of Downy and it's tagged for the Buy $30/Get $10 EBs. Had I known this, I would have bought it on one of my transactions. I have looked at the ad several times and I can't find it in the ad as one of the products included in the deal. If anyone sees it in the ad, PLEASE tell me where it is. Maybe I'm just blind. UGH!! I just found it. It is printed under the picture of the Bounce. Interesting. Last night, went to CVS to finish purchasing the $14 I needed to get the $10 EB. Noticed that the Tide Pods were included in that deal in addition to the Tide liquid. I had a $1/1 that I got directly from P&G so instead of buying the liquid for 5.94 I bought the pods for 4.49. (1) Tide Pods 14 ct 4.49 (1) CG lipstick 6.99 (1) CG lipstick B1G50% 3.49 -$10 ECB -$5/2 CG lipsticks -$1/1 Tide Pods Subtotal was $-1.03 Tax $1.20 Total $0.17 on GC I remembered to give her the MCs last so that they would eat into the tax. Was able to roll one $10 ECB into another. My transactions are usually for only a few items as I've only been getting one set of coupons from a friend at work. Haven't been buying the Rochester D&C as it's up to $3. But, maybe some of the girls who are just getting in can see my little deals and use them as starters? Also, dancin' thanks for the directions for the forum. Some of the other websites have such large forum lists that even if I go to the CVS one I can't find what's current.

I've asked a couple of cashiers if we would be able to use the $5/1 CRTs in the future even though they are expired and both times was told absolutely, yes. I thought of you when this happened. I had one of the $5/1 CRTs for the Centrum Flavor Burst, but it was close to expiring and they didn't have any in stock. I asked the Store Mgr about it and she said she'd honor the CRT after it expired. She made a note on it for me. I'd never asked about that before and was so pleased that she was willing to do it for me. Nice lady. Since then I usually say hi and chat for a moment or two when I come into that particular CVS. A few kind words go a long way. I always make sure to say thanks and let them know that it means a lot to me as a customer to be given a consideration. I'm sure it's rare for them to get thanks.

Today it is all done by computer. The computer reads the bar code and the store get whatever that bar code is set for period. Sometimes the store will be selling it for less like with the Pantene this week but sometimes it will cost more than the coupon allows like happens with the coupons for a free 12/24 pack of Coke cans. In that case the customer pays the difference. Either way CVS would gets reimbursed the exact same amount. Asked my local CVS store mgr last night, how they handle coupons for redemption with the manufacturer. She said that the Q's get sent to a clearing house. But, the coupons are somehow reconciled with the sales in the register and it can be determined on some level if the actual products were not purchased. Not sure how something that complicated can be done.

I will be checking a different Dominciks today to see if they have the coupon book and the Oct produce book. This should tell me if it is just my store (=stupid, lazy staff) or if corp is discriminating toward Chicago and/or Dominicks. If it is the former, I WILL file complaints w/corp EVERY day they do not have the books out. It is WAAAY past time my local store got a mgr who actually manages. The previous one was poor. This one has only been in place 2-3 months but I see NO improvement.

murphath: I have a question for you regarding J4U. When I go into my coupon center some items say "SAVE $X" and some items say "$X OFF". I'm wondering which of these two cases allow you to add a manufacturer's coupon to get extra savings.

I'm wondering which of these two cases allow you to add a manufacturer's coupon to get extra savings. Tough question. With some you can tell it's a man. q: for instance, they always have the P&G q's and the Betty Crocker q's. The register will beep if you try to give them a matching man. q. For instance, if you click on the Nature Valley granola bar q for .50 off that is most likely the same as a man. q. However, I've found that if I give the cashier a $1/2 q for the NV granola bars (have to buy 2 boxes), it won't beep. It's only if the amount of the q is the same. If Safeway is giving you a special price, then you can use a q. Sometimes you get a special price and a $ off. For instance, they gave me a special price of $2.99 on Hebrew National hot dogs (reg. price is $5.99!!!!). They'd also given me a $1 off the week before that hadn't expired yet. When I bought 5 packages, I paid $9.95, or $1.99 each. HTH. I think the cashier makes a difference, too. I try to go to my favorite one at S/W. If the register beeps, she just manually enters the q. I don't try to double dip "illegally" but sometimes I forget if I've clicked on an item in J4U. If it beeps and they give it back to me, it's cool. A gal can't remember everything! Too many rules.

I think they are checking that the product was actually sold by the stores. P&G, or the clearinghouse, knows how much product was shipped to CVS stores so they probably reconcile it that way. I don't think they look at the price the store charges because they can vary from sale to sale; region to region, etc.. They just don't want to reimburse the store for more products than were shipped to them.

"They just don't want to reimburse the store for more products than were shipped to them."
Don't all CVS stores take stuff back even if it wasn't bought at their exact store? Say I buy shampoo at CVS#1 but return to CVS#2 so they could possibly end up with more of a product than they were shipped.

Bunnysmom - returns are a completely different story. The coupon reports look to see if the number of units sold >= the number of coupons they sent in. There's only a problem when the number of units sold is less than the number of coupons redeemed. Then most stores check to see that the number of units sold were even in their inventory to begin with. Which is why most stores will not allow paid-for rainchecks since it messes with their inventory systems (here & there is probably not a big deal, and DM must be special if they let her do it often ) Most inventory systems are set up to notice that 10 bottles came in on the truck, 8 were sold on Sunday so it automatically orders more for the next truck (something like that). As returns come back, sometimes they get added back to inventory, sometimes not. But it all gets reconciled usually once a quarter or once a year.

I went to a different Dominicks (Safewy) on Wed. They did have the fall coupon book, a 4 section display by the door that was bout ½ full. That means my store was LYING about not having it. They are too lazy, too incompetent and/or just do NOT care about decent customer service. Trouble is, any other store is significantly off my normal route(s).
Then I went to J4U this am and the server went down. I am DONE w/them. WAAAY too big a time & gas waster for me.

A CVS question: I was emailed a $3 off of $15 purchase. It lists lots of things in the "Terms and conditions" including that you must have received it directly from CVS to use, etc, but it doesn't say it's only good once. That really surprised me. Can I get $3 off of $15 purchase multiple different days until the coupon expires on Sunday? Thanks!

Maybe I am special!! ;D Actually, I avoid it at all costs; but there have been a couple of times when the deal is a HUGE MM that will be lost unless I can get a paid for rain check. The first time I asked, I really didn't expect them to do it, but you know our motto.... Last Saturday night (11:45 pm) they gave me one for razors (4 Venus and 1 Fusion) because they were not done unloading the totes. I dragged myself out of bed at 6:00 am and went back in to see if they had gotten them in so as not to disrupt the flow of inventory vs sales, so I AM a considerate paid-for rain check recipent. I THINK that CVS is having a warehouse/shipment/stocking problem and it has nothing to do with couponers clearing the shelves. They just aren't getting the product in; maybe it's just my store, but I'm not so sure. I waited for three weeks for them to get the CVS Bathroom Tissue in. That's THEIR brand and they can't seem to stock the shelves. I've been waiting for them to get the Scott Extra Soft. I may be forced to buy the Scott 1000 and exchange it later. Last week when they had the deal on the razors, they had very little stock to support the sale. I was in there when the sale first started, I called when the mid-week shipment came in, and as I said, I was there at 11:45 Saturday night before the sale ended. On the other hand, it seems like they've had plenty of stock for this week's P&G sale, so that's good.

Dancin Both my multiple CVS & multiple WAG stores constantly run out of stock and frequently it is a month or more before it comes back into stock. I have talked to multiple managers at both and it does not matter if they order 3 or 303 – they ONLY get what the warehouse sends.
I do have a new replacement WAG opening this month so I assume that store will be stocked for a bit. Of course, we all know what is said about assuming……..

RE CVS stock: Well, the Centrum Flavor Burst is a prime example of CVS not stocking the shelves. I have 3 CVS stores in my area and not one got any in their shipment. And this is the second sale they've advertised on this product in the last month. To me, that is a bit ridiculous. I feel sorry for the staff as folks are not happy. It's just one of those things. I'll just hang onto my CRT's and raincheck until stock arrives.
I did as about prepurchasing and my CVS mgr. just looked at me as if I were crazy. I think it's because they don't know if they will ever get those vitamins in. I think razors are a safer deal for them to do that.

Hello Ladies. I took a few months off from hounding. I quit my job and knew I was moving so I lived off the stockpile for a few months to save money and have less to move. Now I am in a beautiful new house with lots of room to hound so I'm going to start again. I did a small CVS trip this week to restock shampoo and air fresheners and get back into the swing. I have missed you all.

I got ANOTHER $10/$50 today. Without the vitamins they're almost useless to me. My store got ONE in and is holding it for me to see if two more come in tomorrow. My next $10/$50 expires on the 11th so I'm that (3) come in before then. I also got a $4/$20 Vitamins CRT!!

Some of the listings seemed pretty expensive to me lately though. People who list the buy now prices have a strange idea of how much they are worth in my mind. I also hate when they bundle different coupons together. I don't want to pay $5 bucks to get the 5 coupons I want jus,t because they put 20 extra in that I don't want in the same envelope. I try and find the cheapest person with the coupons I want, that will ship it quickly. For some reason I don't want to buy from the person in Wisconsin who wont ship until Tues if I buy on Fri. Then again, maybe I'm just a cheap PITA. ;D

beach - I do that too. I sort by "Buy It Now", then by price with the lowest first. I started doing that after a few times of buying a set of coupons & then finding it cheaper when I looked through the listings again.

I have seen free panty liners, but not any true free maxi pads, at CVS in a long while. I don't have a rite aid or wags close by. I also use the cash method of deciding if something is free. For me it rarely works out to be free using the cash method. I also have to pay sales tax on coupons at CVS. At 7% it adds up fast. At Shoprite I don't have to pay sales tax on the coupons, so free after coupons really means zero OOP. My DD is a teen so maybe she goes through more of them that the average adult also. Teens seem to go through more ever everthing now that I think of it.
