Will be posting numbers and a new QOTW/COTW in a bit (need a snack and to work on my to do list first) I also have a question for everyone- well it is a 2 for one. I have observed that the transition from month to month goes more smoothly if we switch on a weekend. The 31st falls on a Thursday. I can change over to November on the 2nd of November if everyone would like so that there is no mid-week shuffle. Also- do we have a volunteer to take the first week of November? ( Hey red- you say you're looking for something to kill time? j/k) I will finish out October since everyone is swamped with everything- life. HUGS everyone.

Party was a huge success We had like 50 people show up. I had too much potato salad and some extra desserts and soda but that's not bad. Sent the desserts in to our respective works today so they are out of the house. Weather was great. We had it at this farm just outside town. Jack (the owner and a friend of our family's) has a whole crazy, fun place set up. There are multiple buildings (we were in the lodge which is next to the working General Store and just down from the Sarsaparilla Saloon. It's a short walk to the zip line, HUGE sand box, slides, etc. The kids (and grown ups) had a blast playing. I heard back from friends to tell me that most kids passed out cold on the drives home. This is one of his big events at the farm (was the weekend before DH's party) www.historyfest.com He had over 3500 kids out there for that. Wasn't a bad spend weekend all things considered. Cost me around $250 for food, soda, beer and cake. I didn't get DH his gift yet (which Honeylioness is making) because his actual b-day isn't until February. Dakota- I have begged him not to throw me a surprise party. I hate surprises but he seemed to really enjoy his party. smartstart- glad that Blue was able to keep you distracted and entertained so you were able to enjoy your birthday some.

wooo hooo! The Giants are going back to the world series! Just had to celebrate that tonight since Blue is a cards fan and we smack talked through the first half of this series in NY together Today was a spend for groceries, chiro appointment and tip for my massage. But it was a great day starting with a client meeting in town (client was in from NY) and then working all day until fixing my body from 8 days of travel. Now I'm working on my new podcast with blue!

Rocky Mtn. Saver: 6 NSD/8 CSD (<$5).Good grief, I finally got another NSD. I was beginning to despair of getting any more for the month. Miz, I can take a week as captain if it's needed.

I know we haven't had an NS day since at least last Wednesday. Last night I went out and bought stuff for mini-D's costume. Tonight I need to go to Costco if I just stick to my list it will be an NS, since it will come out of the grocery budget.

Sheila - glad the party was a success!
Haven't been on here in a while, just wanted to pop by and say hi and I'm still here cooking babies (that sounds horrible...). They are just over 5lbs each and doing great. Three more weeks to go! Lots still to do around the house. Don't know how I planned to get it all ready in one week... so glad to be home and getting to rest when I need to. At some point today I need to drag myself to the grocery store but I so don't want to move...

Thanks Red- I'm glad things with your pregnancy, baby growing are going well. I was on bed rest/relaxation the month before DS was born too. It was great. I was really able to kind of mentally prepare myself and check things off my list without being all crazy and hurried.

19/31 NSD
I have spent 4 days this month and anticipate one more this weekend. Of course one of those days was a doozy! I did my twice yearly visit to stock up at Sam's Club. I am now ready for winter. Good timing, it is to start snowing tomorrow night. Not that any snow will linger, it was 73* today. Too warm for snow to linger.
I have been working 50% more hours lately than planned. Many kids realize we are getting close to the last testing days of the year if they want to finish this year. The money is nice but it is getting to be a bit of a drag to work the extra hours. I'm not used to real work! I want to stash as much as I can before the first of the year and the "fiscal cliff."

Rocky Mtn. Saver: 6 NSD/9 CSD (<$5).This week, I've been pursuing picking up some extra work doing taxes starting in January, which is new for me. I'm kinda excited about the new challenge, but it'll be a very busy 3 months. The good news about that is that it should both help my number of NSD's and my general finances. Being too busy to spend any money has its upsides! ;D

Yesterday ended up being a spend. I went to Costco with a list and if I had stuck to it, I would have had an NS, but I didn't. I picked up a book I wanted and some legos for mini-D. Plus we are having a heat wave 80+ degrees and the belt on our attic fan was really worn, so DH went and got a new one before it broke and caused problems.
Today should be an NS. I'm heading home now to paint mini-D's lego costume.
Good luck with the extra work Rocky.
SES- WHile the extra money is nice, I'm sure I hope you get a break soon.
Red- Hope you are enjoying the time to rest!

Rocky- We aren't getting snow, but it was 83 yesterday and the high today was 72 at midnight. It is supposed to be about 43 tonight at midnight. Gotta love this weather and tomorrow is DS field trip the pumpkin patch. Not looking forward to that at all, cold and rainy with 70 1-5 year olds.

No updates yet, just that she went in for a weekly check and the docs decided it was time to deliver the babies, she is just over 35 weeks along.

COTW- Develop a back up plan of some sort.

QOTW- No. I broke. But I do have health insurance.
COTW- I am starting to put money away. I have been working on staying healthier. I am also making a concerted effort to try to get back to work so I would be in a job with better insurance. (Although what I have right now isn't bad- I think not working is more the issue)

Red's hubby posted on Facebook - both kids are healthy and red is doing well. C-section due to pre- ecclampsia from what I understand. I won't post names or anything here since I'm not sure how she feels about privacy

I just got the most awesome news- MOMMA BEAR IS MOVING OUT!!!!!!!! (dancing banana kickline) We are officially over budget for a 1BR so they are moving her into a 1st floor, 1BR, handicap accessible apt in my section once the rehab is done so she doesn't have to be moved several times ;D. Of course she is all depressed about it- but I am stoked!

Hey everyone - I know I have been MIA for a while. But as the saying goes - life is what happens when you are planning something else. I will post links later about what has been going on - maybe - if and when I get around to posting updates on my site.
Needless to say I have no idea what my numbers are for the month. I have been trying to keep my budget spreadsheets updated but I had no goals set for NSD days.
The one update I will post here is that I am still without a job. And as of next Friday it will be a YEAR since I was laid off.
I do still have two students - and baby sitting two elderly cats. How THAT came to be is an odd story in and of itself.
So - I do have some replies and comments - but of course some will be really old:
SES - A SNAKE??? ewwww .. I would flip if I knew there was a live snake in my house.
3cats - Regarding "someone" using pregnancy strips again .. honestly - haven't they ever heard of contraception???
3cats - I would be interested in participating in a gift or card exchange. Partly because I feel out of touch with the group and would like to reconnect.
Rcky Mtn Saver - Sorry to hear about your computer dying.
dakota - Nice to read about your new home and all the little projects you are doing to make it your "own". I liked the picture on FB of your son "helping".
reeneejune - I had seen that you had a new job. while I do understand why some people would say that you should never cash out a 401k - I can understand why you did it and at your age you still have a lot of time to make up the funds.
Sheila - I have not forgotten you or the project. Trying to get back into the "mode" this weekend. I have almost all the shirts cut, framed and trimmed. Just need to finish planning the final layout.
mizbear - Good news on getting your home back for yourself!

Update: 18 NSDs and 3 CSDsRed -- So glad to hear that the purple twins and you are doing well. Honey -- Have been thinking about you. Hugs Mizbear -- Your life will be changing soon again. Dakota -- So glad that the new house is shaping into your home with all the little projects that you are adding to it. 3cats -- thanks for the update on cards/ss sheila -- sorry about the Boy's loss. Did he lock his locker or did he just make it look like it was locked? (can you tell that I teach a lot of boys and recognize some tricks?) Others -- Glad you are with us. My life is as hectic as usual. Still have the last of the projects to grade this weekend. I know that I graded over 450 papers/test/projects this week alone and have at least another 100 that I brought home with me for this weekend. Plus I have to work on lesson plans for the next few weeks. I will be taking some time for myself to spend with friends this weekend -- I do need adult conversation. I also need to get to the grocery as I am out of the basics for lunches (I brown bag each day). Well need to get myself moving this morning as I have a lot to do before I even get to correct anything. Have a great weekend all!
