So since hearing that 1000 mechanics jobs are being lost in DFW area from American Airlines and they are shipping them to China. Does that make you want to fly AA?

It makes me want to write a stinking e mail to AA Me too. While AA is probably global it would be nice if even they wanted some cost saving to keep the majority of the mechanics jobs in the US given the fact they are keeping their name, American Airlines. I wonder if the execs are OK with less people being able to afford airfare in the US because their jobs are off-shored and they have to replace them with (usually) less paying jobs.

they couldn't care less.
If(when) they drive AA into the ground they will walk off richer than when they started.

My husband hates American Airlines, and so I always have his voice inside my head. The last two times I flew them we did the "sit on the runway with mechanical problems for the maximum 4 hours, and then go back to the gate" thing. Add in the fact that their service to Phoenix is obligatory at best - I just don't have a reason to use them a lot.

I haven't flown AA in a long time. (Fortunately, they've never been hubbed at any of my local airports.) Will continue to ignore them.
ETA: Actually, I guess they are hubbed at ORD, but since United is also hubbed there, there is no earthly reason to use AA. (Not that United is particularly great either, but at least they kept a few of the good parts of Continental when they merged.)

It sucks. On the other hand, how many people out here shop airline price on the internet and click the "lowest fare" box? This is what happens in a race to the bottom....
