NAG****but it does have to do with coupons! Ok, so my new job is eventually, just don't know when exactly so I am stuck at my current "temporary" job. So on Weds I was called into HR.. ..I was asked to interview for a new team that will deal with the launch of LEAF electric car. ummmm...ok? So HC is asking ?'s typical of an interview, then she asked me to describe a time when I needed to persuade somebody of something? Well, since I had been thinking of Rite Aid scenarios all day, I used coupons as my example, ROTFLMAO...you should have seen her face! priceless, she was honestly just shocked, LOL. So she asked me if I could be as excited talking about the LEAF? I LOL'd and said "I don't know? Is there a coupon for it?" Well, I know of at least four others who interviewed also, I got in they did not. The reason they didn't? They didn't show enough enthusiasm!!!! LOL...coupons got me a promotion and a NICE raise!! Isn't that a hoot!!!!

I don't think that I have ever heard of coupons getting anyone a promotion or job before, but if I were the one doing the hiring, I would really consider all the attributes involved in being a couponer. Dedication to the job, smart as to keep up with all the deals, enthusiam for what you do and would protect companies resouces due to frugality. Sounds like a perfect employee to me.

I would go with D on that one, Missourimommy, but who knows. I have a degree in Math, but I can't even figure out what they are talking about!!! RANT: And this is the problem with our education system. Basic mathematics does not change - EVER!! The "way" that they teach it changes. Why? It's all about MONEY . New concepts in teaching require new textbooks which cost money - TAXPAYER MONEY to purchase new textbooks for the schools. When my DS went to high school they did not teach Algebra I, Geometry, and then Algebra II. They taught "Integrated Math". It was a mish mash of math concepts taught in no logical order whatsoever. It's a no wonder that the US is falling behind in math and science. Okay, RANT OVER. Maybe this is why kids today (and many young adults) cannot add without a calculator, cannot give change without the register telling them how much and cannot balance a checkbook. TEACH them how to do it the old way that was not broke.

Now this is the problem: I am having a hysterectomy a week from today.
The doctor says that I have to stay home for awhile after the surgery, LOL. That is going to be a bit rough on me. I had everything removed in Sept. Stage 1 Ovarian cancer. Doctor said tumor was the size of a basketball . I am 5 foot...couldnt figure out why I always looked pregnant! I totally get what you are going through and wanted to 'hound' you and say do everything the doctor tells you to! I am still paying for doing too much too early.

Drives my DH crazy but someone needs to teach them. almost all of them appreciate it and/or say no one ever taught me that!

Dancinmama: I'm sure your were great as an at home teacher. We were fortunate that our Catholic school had a great reading AND writing program. Can't say the same about our local high school and our public schools are rated the highest in the County. Scary, isn't it?!! Of course, since good old mom here is a language geek (foreign and otherwise), I made sure my kids read for fun, etc..
RE RA and Rice Krispies. Raisin Bran is on sale for $1.99 also--does that also give an UP? And where are you guys finding what produces the UP?

SuziQ:
Our thoughts will be with you and we hope you recover quickly. Perhaps you can give your UPs to your daughter and let her learn your tricks! Or, you can just "spend" them on stuff you will use. I may have to do that as I have so many that expire on 2/19 and my 2 RA's have not been well stocked with the UP items lately!

Here's why I guess that...they want to look at the one's place. 36 + 8 has 2 numbers in the ones place - the 6 and the 8. To re-group them, take away 4 from the 8 to pair up with the 6 to make an even 10. Then you are left with a 4... which I guess is the end of the "44".Geez, so now we are teaching the kids that they need to subtract in order to add. Isn't double digit addition confusing enough without this? Once they understand the concept of tens and ones in a two-digit number, I still say "carry the one" (into the tens column) is an easier concept to grasp. Hi, My name is Lb and I am NOT smarter than a 2nd grader!

Suziq: I hope everything goes well for you and you have a speedy recovery!
One of my coworkers (also a Suzy) has what may be a precancerous ovarian tumor and is facing a hysterectomy as well. We were talking about the surgery, and she said "They can have the crib, as long as they leave the playpen!" She cracks me up on a regular basis!

Would someone please walk me through this as I'm not understanding it. I apologize for not siting where I got the scenario from - it's either Wild for Wags or i heart wags. At WAGS next week, you get a free airwick warmer w/ purchase of refills 2/$5. Why would I use a $1.50/1 air wick warmer or the air wick warmer free coupon when I'm already getting it for free? Wouldn't I just use the $1/1 coupons? Scenario: Get a FREE Airwick Scented Oil Warmer ($1.49 value) w/purchase of Air Wick Scented Oil Refill 2/$5 -$1.50/1 Air Wick Warmer -$1/1 Air Wick Scented Oil twin refill pk or (2) single refills – 01-30-11 SS x3/13 -Air Wick Warmer Unit FREE wyb Air Wick Scented Oil refill fragrance – 01-30-11 SS – to $2.19 x3/13
mercee - a lot of blogs/websites do this. The coupons listed are all the available coupons for that product, but they aren't suggesting that you try to use them all at the same time. Sometimes coupons are regional, meaning some areas get them and some don't. So if they just listed that a particular coupon was in the 1/30 SS for example, and you didn't get that coupon that week, you wouldn't know to look in other weeks' inserts for other options. suziQ - I'll be thinking of you and your surgery. I'm sure it will all go smoothly and you'll be back to your couponin' ways faster than you can say " slick as snot." And by the way, you made money buying the Dove deodorant at Rite Aid! Its $2 for the deodorant minus the $2 coupon means you paid nothing, but then got back the $2 UP = $2 profit! Go girl! Speaking of go girl, congrats ooty! What a fabulous way to win someone over in your interview. ;D

Oooty- Congrats! Suziq- I have had precancerous stuff removed from the nether regions twice now- please take it easy and do what the doctor tell you to. I always have a longer recovery time because I don't listen. This summer I went pulling on cases of water for my DM instead of telling unemployed DB to do it and busted my stitches- and subsequently got an infection, a lecture from my gyn and 6 additional weeks in bed. Please say a prayer for my nieces- one of them fell and hit her head and is getting checked out at the hospital. And her sister thinks it's her fault because they were playing together when it happened.

Suzi, I hope your surgery goes fine and please listen to the doctors. I am one of those people who did not and had issues later on. I will be rooting for you. If you store has the Prilosec 42 ct, then frugalsuz has a great deal to convert them to a 25$ GC on her blog.

I am trying to find how RA calculates tax and every time I think I have it figured out, they have it completely different from what I calculated, so maybe RA's registers were programmed by someone who learned this new fangled math

Congrats, Ooty!! Mizbear, THANK YOU!!!!!! IT MAKES SENSE!!!! I can show my son tomorrow what they meant. For the LIFE of me I couldn't figure it out!! Like lbmoore and others, I am NOT smarter than a 2nd grader!! At least I've found a support group! Speaking of kids....my 6-yr old told me the other night that I had to go the speed limit "otherwise that's a speeding ticket you don't have the money for and I'm sure you don't have a coupon for it! I have the money but I'm not going to help you because that's not being responsible." I like how she associated the use of coupons with a speeding ticket that DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!
