In my lifetime I've survived abuse, a drug habit, being totally broke, being homeless, unemployed with no ef. I'm going to say I'm in the 3 range. Someone, somewhere has had a hell of a lot more to deal with than I have. It's all good. I will keep what I have had and take what is to come. After all, it's what makes me, me.

Some people have it difficult due to their own making. Others (like me) strive to keep difficulties out of their lives. Some of the former probably thrive on difficulty and embrace it (not that they'd admit it ...ETA: They enjoy the drama). Then others have difficult lives not through much, if any, fault of their own. With those who live lives of constant drama, I think you're right, Wode. You describe one of my sisters. Always a bit of drama. I think she fancies herself the down trodden, but strong southern woman. But, without the drama, you can't be down trodden, and you don't have as many opportunities to "be strong". At one point, she had a fire that destroyed a house that she was preparing for sale. As I thought about the tale she told, I realized that she had to make at least 7 consecutive bad decisions in order to catch the house on fire. That's a lot of bad decisions to make in less than 2 hours. I guess if you really want drama in your life, you're willing to work pretty hard to create the drama. Maybe this is why I'm willing to believe that a significant portion of the "have nots" choose the life they live through the decisions that they make.

I seem to always have some kind of drama going on in my life. I hate it. I try to treat people fairly, I mind my own business, I try to take care of my belongings, and just try to do the right thing in general............. but I'm constantly having to deal with some kind of issue. I've started to wonder if maybe I'm just not suppose to be happy at all. I know I could have worse problems, but that doesn't stop me from feeling that my life just sucks right now. My satisfaction with my life is probably close to a 10. In reality, I'm better off than a lot of people but I sure feel beat down.

Compared to starving children in Africa I have it pretty good. Otherwise I'd say a 5. Frankly, if I shared some of the things I've survived you'd think I was exaggerating.

I'm going with 5.5. Right smack in the middle. Plenty of people have had it worse than me, plenty have had it better.
That's ranking my whole life up to this point.
Right now, I'd say my life is like a 2 maybe. My only real gripe is that my job is boring, and pointless. Which in this economy is definitely a first world problem.

.999999 Later - I think you are going the wrong way. 1 is the best and 11 is worser than 10. ;D No, 1 is no awesomeness and 10 is total awesomeness. Like 1 is no struggles and 10 is total struggles.

Wait. Thyme said 1 is good and 10 is not.
For 19 years and 49 weeks it was a consistent 1. That's how long TGH and I were married.
Now my life is neither great nor dismal; it just is, so a 5.

I want to say 1 because I'm ridiculously fortunate, and have so many options, but that's probably not honest.
Maybe 3. 3 years ago, probably a 7.
