So, if i want to get to tickets to the game, is it illegal for me to buy them from someone down at the stadium for more than face value? What about buying online? The tickets aren't being sold for face value online. So, didn't this used to be illegal? Or is it still but nobody cares or what?

I've sold and bought tickets that way. But don't know about the legal or illegal issue. Guess I would know if some Fed jumped out the woods and arrested me.

Depends on city and state laws. In Denver, you can't sell on the grounds of Mile High (or whatever they call it now) or Pepsi Center, but you can across the street.
At Mets Stadium, a friend of mine almost got busted for trying to give a ticket away.

It varies with the venue around here. I once tried to sell an extra ticket I had to a Bulls game and almost got busted by a cop. But then a few weeks ago we went to a Cubs game and there was a guy on the sidewalk near the main entrance buying and selling tickets out in the open. We sold him our extra seat for $20 (DW negotiated him up from $10 to $20 ). Turns out he never re-sold it because nobody ever took the seat...

But, why is it OK to buy online?
