I think that's what moonbeam is trying to promote with this trhead, Roselia. A little empathy and consideration can go a long way toward making a board more fun for everyone.

For other than obvious reasons does my avatar both you/anyone? If so I don't mind changing it but could use a refresher on how to change it.

Yes zipity - yours is one I have hidden because the movement and color is the type that brings on migraines. And, of course, it is just gross. However, you don't have to change it for me - as I have it hidden, so I just see a big white space over there when you post. But, if the movement bothers me, it may bother others.

Oh come on, it's cute. :-) Sorry if I had known I would have changed it before. How does one go about changing avatars?

I disagree. It is pretty violent and graphic.

It's Corona beer now, Thyme - I dont' think that's too violent - unless maybe you drink too many.

Never mind, found it. I won't bother to explain the smiley face in my last post but hope this works better for you.

I have several migraines while on this site. I've hidden all the avatars that really bother me, and some of the banner ads bother me, but I refresh and get something else. I haven't had too many problems on the internet in general. The animated emoticons don't bother me, but I do scroll past them pretty quickly. This site is better now that fewer people have scrolling tag lines. For some reason when there were a whole bunch of people that had that scrolling line, my eyes darted around trying to either avoid them or read them, and it would cause me problems. How do you hide avatars?

you double click it to hide. to show one again, there is a little icon that looks like this under where the avatar would be.

Thank you, moon. In my old age, I can't deal with flashing/rapidly moving gifs. I get dizzy.
The lines of the dancing bananas do the same thing and, to me, serve no purpose. Two or three should get the point across.

I'm also one of those that suffer when rapidly blinking, moving images show up on a screen. I usually try to stay away from known threads that have those type of images. I can understand those of you who have a position on this board can't. I'm hoping that others will see this isn't a stab at anyone it is just something we are asking people to be considerate about. We who suffer do not like the after effects that happen to us when we've been put in this type of situation.

Sorry to hear you, too, are afflicted, cotton. It's great we can turn off the avatars so easily; however, there's nothing to be done about pictures/emoticons placed in posts, so I hope others will be more considerate now.

I am sorry for any people with the seizure disorders. I also like the sparkly pictures. They're really beautiful. But I want everyone to be as well as possible.

Unless the husky is your new avatar. Then keep that one! LOL! Were you the head banging dude? That was funny but too many posts in a row made me feel like I drank too much. I feel bad that I can't read the posters who have scrolling stuff at the bottom of their page in the signature. It makes me dizzy and sea sick feeling. LOL!

I'm glad that people are understanding the concerns of those with headache/migraine/seizure issues and are doing their part to make things comfortable for ALL members. There's still a a few who are going to continue even though they know of the request and the problems the pics cause, but I guess that's to be expected.
The meds I'm on for controlling the seizures can only be taken so many times a day at specific times, so it's not like I can just take a pill if I see a flashy/blinky pic. And you never know what threads they might be on at any given time.

Well I'm giving notice right now, any peep not complying with less is more then I'm not associating with them. Peeps do not have to be made sick from anyone else's inconsiderate nature.

Amen, Sug. And I notice that in spite of the nice request from Moon, we have a few folks who seem to not only be ignoring the request, but outright flaunting it, AND invting others to do the same. And doing so on some threads that should be open to general readership, but cannot be because of the images.

Petunia, I'm OK with yours, because the pattern appears to be random enough for me to handle. Plus, it's pretty small. But that's my reaction.

I'm also noticing that the problematic blinky pics are continuing to show up on the threads mentioned, PLUS some other ones now - particularly in the Religion sub-board. All members should be able to go into those threads to discuss their beliefs without worrying if there'll be a picture that's going to cause problems for them - and there's no way of knowing before going into the page whether there'll be one of those big flashy pics.
I dont' think it's a big request or inconvenience to ask members to show some consideration for other members and their issues when choosing their images. Knowing the problems they can cause, and continuing to do so speaks volumes.

consider this fair warning to those who wish to deliberately ignore this simple request- your pictures WILL be deleted, and if you persist after that, then you will earn a vacation. there is absolutely no excuse why you can't be respectful of your fellow posters.

I had no idea that this was an issue on this board until just now. As a migraine sufferer I have to share this with some of you. As a person that is on the internet a lot it is unreasonable of me expect the internet world to change to accomodate my issue. Here is a helpful hint that works for me. Coloured lenses effectively damp down the effects of lights or patterns that trigger visual migraine. I have some pink lenses and some blue tinted lenses and it really makes all the difference in the world.
