I can't believe some organization paid for that study. Of course it's true, and of course it's hard to isolate the "self-selection" whereby people who are basically healthy are more likely to choose to be active and fit.
I'm almost 60 and have bragged before on here about sprint triathlons. This past year I arrived for an event and was asked if I'd sub in the team triathlon instead and do the swim portion- 1/2 mile in open water. I told them I wouldn't drown but I wasn't gonna break any speed records. I got through in 20 minutes and felt a bit cheated because I'd been psyched for a 2-hour workout.
I lose about one workday every 3 years to illness if you don't count the occasional day I work at home because I've got the sniffles. I'm not on any prescriptions although I take a few supplements. It's partly the grace of God and good genes, I know, but for me this study is a no-brainer.
