would this be a good idea if one was interested in learning about investing? I googled both "lex van dam legit" and "lex van dam fraud" and didn't see anything mentioning it was a scam. thoughts?
(I don't even know where to post this question as i'm new)

Hmmm? First time I had heard of it. Googled the site. Would be suspicious and very careful. Trading is for experts who have been around the markets for years.
Long, term, quality stock investing is, for most non-professionals, the "way to go." Trading for the Main Street private investor can be a real bag of worms.... the odds are certainly against money-making success. Best to leave all that to the Wall Street professionals.
Check out "The Long Term Investor" and "Dividend Stock Investing" threads here.

thanks- I just checked out the thread with book recommendations so maybe I'll start with that. It's a dry topic for me but I really want to learn - I don't understand what a margin is or anything so I need basic help!

A REALLY good way to learn about investing is to read the following threads on this board and ask questions as well as post: THE LONG TERM INVESTOR A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN INVESTOR DIVIDEND STOCK INVESTING MARKET VIEW AND POSSIBLE DIRECTION BUSINESS TALK You will learn way more about investing here than going to a "trading" academy. Trading is not investing. I think you or anyone else that wants to learn and post on this board on ANY of the threads will find a very good group of people posting here that are not judgmental or argumentative or demeaning. WXYZ, Yes.. True but he has a lot of harsh words to say about the kind of complex Synthetic Financial instruments sold in London. He has real good pointers about no LEVERAGE and no over trading.. He hates High Frequency Traders.. . Just a thought, Bruce The Expert 50/50 system is a bit of a trading system as needed to re-balance.
