Ironically the Japanese are probably some of our strongest allies however the U.S. never seems to learn from the past and apply it to the future. 9-11 was an example.
With the world's economic situation in turmoil as it is we should have our eyes wide open.

DI, on behalf of 3 Veterans....I thank you! And I agree with you whole heartedly!
My Veterans are/were, my first hubby - Korea (Ill. National Guard) (deceased) my present DH - Viet Nam (3 tours, Army) my son - The Gulf War (retired Navy)
I would like to add that I have visited the Arizona Memorial 3 times now. Quite a moving experience. It still leaks oil.

kadee, we had a small group luncheon today (those of us elderly Vets still walking around after all these years since WWII) and we recognize it was an honor to have served. Agree with D.I., honestly, the true heroes are those that gave all for our country over these years. We honor them, and the fathers, mothers, widows and children who so unfortunately were left behind in sadness and had to move on without their loved ones. One loss may effect many others. May God bless all, and may God bless the United States of America.

i try not to remember.........looking back , i could sense fear altho i was only three..i did not know what was going on..........then by seven i have experienced the terror ( resistance groups vs occupying enemy in my homeland, the Philippines..) followed by subsequent liberation ........lost my dad and an uncle.............for a long time i felt the pain and the anger............now the anger is gone but the pain lingers....by forgiving , the heavy burden of anger was lifted.............yes i try not to remember
