Apple Inc. is a widely held stock and will be reporting earnings on October 18th.
It is always fun to make a projection on an investment. Last quarter my projection for Apple earnings was significantly lower than what the company reported but much closer than what the analysts had projected.
Apple's fiscal Q4 ends at the end of September and the numbers are to be reported on October 18th.
Current analyst's projections are for an earnings range of $6.05 to $8.22 with the consensus at $7.14.
The "rovo" projection of Apple's Q4 earnings is $9.00 with a tolerance of -5%, +10%. The tolerance works out to a range of $8.55 to $9.90 but I like the round number of $9.00 per share.
It would be nice if those entering an estimate would also post their number so we can identify the winner.

I'll guess $7.50. This was not scientific but I bought my first apple gadget last month. Usually by the time I get a tech gadget the market is becoming saturated so i figure it will be tougher to beat estimates. I used the current analysts prediction plus about 5%. I still like the AAPL stock at its current price but I don't have any position at this time.

I voted $6.50 but I still would not buy Apple at this time. I would Sell it now at the top.

I took 7.50. This quarter probably represents slightly weaker iPhone sales as people wait for iPhone5, better than expected iPad2 sales for a 5-10% QoQ growth rate.

I am going with the $9 range. When was the last time Apple did not beat the estimates?

$9.50 People have been waiting for the Iphone5. The four stores in China are packed all the time, two more are opening soon, and that's just the start.

Yeah but Q3 2011 earnings don't include any iPhone5 sales.

$5.75 to $6.24 maybe a few more positive quarters left in the company. Depends on the latest I-phone I-pad devices. Same here, I just did. I am now short on Apple. I am sure it will take many months or even several years, but without Jobs it's run is now over.

Apple earnings are due to be reported tonight after the market closes. I'm going to pin this thread to the top until sometime tomorrow in case somebody else wants to enter an opinion.
Apple stock hit $426.70 yesterday before falling back to close at $419.99. This morning it hit $422.44 in premarket activity but is currently trading down at $417.45.

Apple reports earnings of $7.05 per share. Well below my expectations and below the analysts expectations of $7.39.
In this game we have two people picking $7 (6.75 to 7.24) in earnings but I can only find one listing his number and it looks like usaone took the prize.
