It's not me. We're up in Dallas where thank God the heat wave finally broke yesterday. I'm sure my father-in-law is glued to TWC & whatever fire coverage they have online down there. They're both in really good shape and I'm sure they'll be able to take care of themselves. I'd also expect my wife has spoken to them multiple times today (as she did yesterday) to discuss their preparations. I'm anal being an accountant and all, but she really puts me to shame.

I just did a little research for myself and it looks like nothing for them to worry about. Fires are out to the west of them and moving SW. Called my wife to tell her this and she knew it, 'but what if the winds change'. This is one of those times where it's best just to support and not solve I suppose...

She is right! With all the strange weather happenings this year I would never take anything for granted! Any little happening some other place in the world could end up having an effect that could cause a wind shift.
Just be careful, be aware & stay up-to-date (minute to minute) so you have as much warning as possible!

uncle, I would ship the rain that way if we had some. It's all gone now and we are close to being in as bad shape as Tx. in my area. We are in extreme drought. There is a pocket here in the SW that is this way. We have a few fires too just not big enough to make the news. Mostly caused by careless folks or set intentionally!

Now we have a tropical despression in the Atlantic. If it comes in south of Cuba within 5-6 days, Texas hopefully may be getting some rain storms. Hope if it enters the Gulf it does not do a turn too far north, LA, MS & AL do not need a repeat of Lee. Too early to determine where this may go, these are so unpredictable a week away. UPDATE: Now TS Maria. New track (for now) hurricane.terrapin.com/ATL-14A/ctrack.htmlStay tuned. Also understand a little undeveloped disturbance down in the Gulf... hopefully will bring some rain. Things change fast, come and go... at the mercy of Mother Nature.
