I see natural gas is heading upward on the futures market. Pundits keep saying how we can build a natural gas powered trucking/bus fleet on cheap affordable natural gas, and yet Natural gas rockets on the first hot week of the year, on the theory utilities need natural gas to run more electric plants due to demand of electricity for consumers. IMO we have to delink natural gas, oil, and food commodities from the commodity markets where any hedge fund with a few bilion can jump in and disrupt the "real and honest price" of the commodity. Keep the markets, just keep the hedge funds out. I know this will not happen, but the economic survival of America's middle class is dependent on this action.

Natural gas futures up again today with oil down. Looks like funds are switching out of oil to ng.

Natural Gas is the future. From heating to low cost fuels for automobiles. Its the next up and coming market.

VB, I'm in your camp about Hedge Funds being in commodities. They have no business there.

Natural Gas is the future. From heating to low cost fuels for automobiles. Its the next up and coming market. Not if the hdge funds are allowed to throw billions into the market and manipulate the price.

Natural gas never got the big move upwards I expected. Summer heating season never kicked in to high gear, although I never thought electric generation should affect the price that much. Looks like everyone will have reasonable heating bills with ng again this year, unless they hooked up with some firm locking in their gas price for the full year. Heating oil bills will be a little higher this year, but not unbearable for the consumer

Value Buy, our local Gas company has advised us gas prices should be about 15% lower for heating this winter, due to the Marcelus Shale production. UGI is our local utility.
