I don't even have a facebook account, but over the years I have heard from various friends they have seen pictures of me on various facebook pages -- mostly old pictures from high school.
But, since I don't have an account, I'm thinking those pictures aren't "tagged"?

I don't like pictures of me posted on FB because I think I look horrible in pictures. I swear the moment a camera comes out...my face turns hideous. Really bad ones I untag myself. My mother just tagged me in a bunch from when I was like 12...ugh.

And I'll give you a clue - for the most part, if you hate every picture of yourself except 3 - then it isn't the pictures...hint, hint. ;D

That was the ONE WEEK I had "big hair". I had gotten a perm and like a week later my hair was straight again. You can see it was barely holding a curl in those pictures.
I sure was tiny and WHITE...OMG I was glowing in those pictures.

Worrying about privacy while using Facebook doesn't even make sense to me. It's a site that exists to gather as much personal information about you as possible which they can sell it to advertisers, and as an added side benefit every nutjob in your life can stalk you from the comfort of their mother's basement. Sweet.

It sounds to me like "privacy" is an excuse. What people are really saying here is that they want to be in control of their image, and that a couple of less-than-perfect pictures are going to portray them in a way they don't wish to be portrayed. The reality is, if you put yourself out there - by going to work, going to a social function, or being online with a group of people - you open yourself up to have people think what they are going to think.
Do you not want a picture posted of you because you don't like the picture, or because you don't want anyone to know what you look like? One is an issue of privacy, the other is an issue of ego or image consciousness or something.

I didn't know who owned the basement until you just confirmed it, but those creepy pictures you sent me were clearly taken in a basement. Just so you know overhead florescent light... not that flattering.

I don't know... the chocolate sauce on your moobs wasn't totally revolting... until I realized you hadn't drizzled it there on purpose but it was just what fell while you were eating.

My ex tagged me in a bunch of pictures from when the kids were little. We've been divorced 17 years, I really don't understand why he would feel the need to be tagged with me in a picture and especially ones where I had bad 80's hair. Last year I let him borrow my scrapbooks to scan every single picture from when the kids were little. He has hundreds of pics of them and them with him that don't include me.
Took me over an hour to figure out how to get those pics of the top scrolly thing on the top of my facebook profile.

Go to your Facebook account and click on Privacy Settings. Where it says TIMELINE AND TAGGING, hit "Edit Settings." Turn to "on" Review posts friends tag you in before they appear on your timeline Under "who can see posts you've been tagged in on your Timeline" select CUSTOM and set it to ONLY ME Turn "on" Review tags friends add to your own posts on Facebook This is what I have done and I don't approve the tagging.

Well this is not directly related to your OP but my husbands family seems to have someone trying to scam them to send $$. DH has two brothers that live in a southern state, Some family out west and lots of family in the Midwest. They also have a lot of family living in Mexico. About a week ago his Uncle got a call that his brother was in a car accident on his way to Mexico. He was supposed to be embarrassed and did not want to tell his family. I think the Uncle decided it was really odd that his DN did not call his mother or his brother as they could well afford to send him $$, so he got off the phone and call MIL. MIL called BIL's house and they said he was at work and definitely not on his way to Mexico. Yesterday My MIL got a call from someone claiming to be one of her DN's in Mexico. He said he wanted to come for a visit. MIL assumed he was who he said he was and Mentioned my DH's name. Caller told MIL the visit was supposed to be a surprise, and not to tell DH. MIL tells DH everything, I don't think she was necessarily suspicious, even DH believed the story, but he told his Mother to call MX and tell his cousin he would pick him up in Chicago at the airport. MIL called MX and found out her DN does not have a visa, is not planning a trip to the US, and did not call her. DH thinks someone is linked into facebook and mining for data. We are not quite sure what their purpose is. But, I was talking to a co-worker this AM about how my smartphone pulls in my facebook contacts, and I realized that my very wealthy Dear aunt's (my side of family not DH's) phone number is in my phone directory and I am pretty sure it pulled in with my facebook contact info and I never entered it. Can you imagine what a wealth of info scammers can get off of your facebook contact list? I am glad you and your cousin came to an agreement. I have to say I don't go on facebook often, but when people post the pics they forward to my smartphone and I enjoy looking at them. I attended an identity theft seminar given by the local police department and this is how ID thieves get information about high school/college aged kids and contact grandparents. A local woman had sent over $30K to try to get her grandson out of Canada. She was going to Walmart and sending money. Walmart finally called the police to go talk to her. Police went out and she was crying because she thought she'd never see the grandson again. Police tried to trace money. It had been sent from local Walmart to Canada and immediately to Ukraine where it cannot be traced further. Grandma was out $30K. Be wary.
