Rick, You're a Ford guy Any suggestions (other than me just randomly searching online) to where I can get the best deal on a re-manufactured 2.3l engine for a '93 Ranger? Any place I should stay away from? I'm doing the removal/install myself, just looking to pick your brain.

Found a place on-line for $1700. That includes shipping of the new and the core back to them. If the core checks out (which there's no reason it won't) I'll get $295 back. So about $1400 total cost. I'm thinkin that's doable.

So after a few days on on-line searching and price comparisons I ended up getting a remanufactured engine from the local autozone. They were able to price match an on-line distributor's price and I don't have to pay any shipping costs.
Final cost of the engine? ... $1,250.00
Because AZ was so accommodating, we'll be buying all our "extra" parts required during the engine swap. And with the money we saved, it looks like the truck will be getting new shocks and a new paint job.
My son is very pleased.
Thanks for letting me bend your ear ... see you around the board.

Sorry to see you left the board Rick. I enjoyed your posts. It was nice to have someone else knowledgable about cars to bounce ideas around with.
Be safe ... where ever you are.
