Just plain curious. When someone deletes their account (if I'm right) then all their messages get labeled "guest", is that correct? But when a mod bans a person, their messages get deleted and all messages in a thread they've posted to get renumbered, is that right? Only asking because I see some threads where it appears parts are missing, or maybe I'm loosing it?

The first statement (registered becomes guest) is correct.
Not sure about the second, and I hope I never have to do it.
Though I thought deleted posts do not disappear, they just become "post deleted by <name>".

He might be talking about threads that had MuscleUp posts in them. His just went poof, like they never existed. Even on threads he started. It did make some conversations look really weird.

I would think that someone would have to type that in....either the poster or the mod.

well, that's the automatic comment that shows up when you use that delete button on your own post (or if I use that delete button on your post...) but you can always edit it. if you don't, that's what ends up showing up for the post. if we need to remove a post, it gets moved to an admin-only area of the board for record. that works like when we move a thread from one board to another, or if we merge threads. as far as MU's posts, we can delete all traces of a poster at that poster's request. it's only happened a couple times since we've been over here, but it has happened. hope that helps

Though I thought deleted posts do not disappear, they just become "post deleted by <name>". ...fwiw, it seems that only happens if "poster" deletes them manually... ...and countless threads have become wonky when the numbering is thrown off with the removal of posts... c'est la vie?

OK... you must have a code in there for it to do that. When I've moderated (in other places) I've had to put the message in...then PM the poster to give an explaination.....then PM admin. Your system looks a bit simpler.
