NJ has just begun requiring ignition interlock devices on cars in order for someone to get their license restored after a DUI. Where on the dashboard do these devices get installed?
I was giving someone a quote for car insurance, and telling her about Progressive's Snapshot program, which requires a cellular device be plugged into the dashboard diagnostic port. She thought that was where the interlock device might be installed, and I had no idea if that was correct or not.
Thinking about it later, it didn't seem likely. The port is meant for things to be easily inserted and removed, and the interlock device has to be permanently installed.
