With no ticket and no passport an 11 year old boy somehow got away from his mom in an English Shopping Center - went to the airport and got on a plane to Rome. The flight was halfway to Rome before anyone realized it. I'm sure his family was terrified while he was missing, and it seems indicative of some pretty severe security breeches (Although the airport insists that there were no security breeches.), yet something about this story make me smile. www.cnn.com/2012/07/25/world/europe/uk-plane-stowaway-boy/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

I found another story with more detail (emphasis mine). "He was chatting away about being off by himself," and passengers alerted the cabin crew, Russell Craig, a spokesman for Manchester Airport, said Wednesday. The boy, who is known to be fascinated by transport and has a history of catching free rides on trains and buses, was sent back to Manchester on the return flight, Craig said. abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/uk-boy-11-flies-rome-passport-16850290

Makes better sense. What I don't get is they keep saying there way no security threat. BS! In this case security is supposed to stop terroists from trying to hyjack or blow up the plane. This boy may have stolen a ride but he didn't have any thing on him that would have been a security threat from that angle. Why the airline people didn't stop him for not having a ticket or boarding pass is a whole nother question but that part of it is not the TSA's job to care about.
