What sets me off is that phrase:

So there is no salary? However on the phone I had asked if I will have to go door to door and she said 'our clients come to us'...

They want you to sell insurance. While they may provide benefits such as health insurance to full-time employees in their accounting, IT, etc. departments, agents are generally considered non-employees and are on their own. There are some exceptions, where a company employs agents in-house, but they're rare. Companies offer jobs as insurance agents and financial planners to anyone who's breathing because there's little risk to them.
If you're inclined to a sales career, you'd be much better off joining an insurance agency where someone who's been in the business for years can mentor you.
