Busy, he'd probably do well at something legal but I bet it would be years before he saw the kind of money he's gotten to date. Who knows whether its love of money or an interest in crime that drove him?

Can't help but think that an adult got him into the biz. Can't help but think the parents either knew what was going on or are the most clueless parents ever.

Legal or not, that kid just learned a ton about running a business, overseeing production, supply, distribution, etc., that the vast majority of 17 year old's will never see.

I wonder how he could market that on a resume.

Everywhere does background checks now, so they're going to see the drug trafficking convictions anyway. Might as well be up front about it, and straight up list it on the resume. Bullet point style.
Drug Kingpin from 2010-2012 - Hired, trained, and managed X direct report salespeople. - Oversaw entire operation with $X in gross sales, and $20,000 in profit monthly. - Daily/weekly duties included but not limited to the following: - Bookkeeping - Solving supply issues - Etc, - Etc.
If nothing else it'll be a great ice breaker.

He is being tried as a juvenile. Won't that mean his record will be sealed? (I really have no idea, but thought that is how it worked)

(I really have no idea, but thought that is how it worked) Don't know about where he is, but in NY, he'd be treated as an adult. He's eligible for youthful offender treatment, which means the record would get sealed, however, based on the extent of his involvement in the drug trade, he would not get youthful offender status and would have a criminal conviction.

Yeah, this is in Ohio. It surprises me that running an illegal operation at 16/17 that nets $20K/month would still grant you juvenile status, but that is what the article said.
