That picture really makes them look like 'tards. RL - totally out of touch with what is current.

I guess Barbie & Ken are trying to steal GI Joe's thunder by cashing in on the military look. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I love how there are three threads about the Olympic uniforms. If only our board wasn't so segregated, we could all talk about the same thing at the same time.

Aside from the entire uniform being tacky and outdated (including the white oxford shoes), the white bobby-socks for the females looks just plain silly. (And the Polo logo on the left pocket is so large they're like human billboards for RL).
I think they could have gone with something more modern (even casual) looking than that design. It looks like something one of the Communist countries would choose.

Red skinny jeans for the guys and sweatsuits that say "juicy" on the butt for the girls.

The men are athletes - I think they could pull this off during the opening ceremony. ![](http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR1cBNwpMz7YiuYEuWWExEHqS25hOq2B5Zg1ZWRKDSCf2gFyg7KYRkJb6A)

There's something just wrong when a uniform makes you look as though you couldn't possibly conceive of going into actual combat. :-\

Do you understand the different need for dress uniforms for ceremonial purposes and combat uniforms?

The above was not for... never mind. Ken already said it. My step dad wore that when he walked me down the isle and looked so handsome in his dress uniform! He was a Commander and wore it proudly. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Of course I do, and in general I do think that the dress uniforms are fabulous looking. But those guys really do look like waiters.

There's something just wrong when a uniform makes you look as though you couldn't possibly conceive of going into actual combat. :-\ Uniforms don't necessarily have to do anything with combat. Or are you going to go hassle fast food employees, nurses, and others? Why don't you pick on them first, I think they are local. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ![](http://boardroomecoapparel.com/_Library/BLOG_IMAGES/BEA_McD_Uniform.jpg)

Indeed. And I realize there are ceremonial uniforms as well as combat uniforms.
My comment was more a reflection of how modern ceremonial dress is a grand irony. At our nations' most prestigious military events, we put our warriors into dress that is the exact opposite of their role in our society. Bright white pants. Shined shoes. Not one stain. Not one thread out of place. As though the wearer hasn't done so much as scuffed his shoes or spent one second undertaking rough and dangerous work.
I realize why the armed forces has crisp, clean ceremonial garb. I still consider it ironic.
So does most of human history. Throughout 95 percent of it, the greatest warriors were the ones with the biggest, bloodiest, and most beaten up armour. The shiny stuff was for kings, feudal lords, and other poseurs.
