I am looking to make some cupcake stands for DD's birthday party. I've seen several inspiration pieces online for using candle sticks and bud vases glued to plates. I am going on a thrift store hunt tomorrow to get the pieces (hoping for some holiday sales). For adhering them together, most tutorials use epoxy adhesive (gorilla glue or something similar). I've never worked with that before - is it difficult to use? I know it will be visible on clear plates, so I can watch out for that. I also saw something about high-temp hot glue (not the normal hot glue, I guess it uses a different gun & everything). Has anyone used these before? Would it adhere glass to glass/ceramic well enough that we could stack cupcakes & cookies on top? I don't need a permanent solution, just one sturdy enough to last us a few hours for the party. Although, if I come up with some fun pieces, maybe I will change my mind & want to keep them around for future parties

If you go the gorilla glue route, know that it foams up and over doubles in size when it is dry (if IRC it dries white). It wouldn't be a bad idea to test it out on just one first.
We use a two part epoxy at work for some stuff, dries clear, and comes in a "syringe" type package--the two parts are separated until they come out of the tube, where you blend them together. You could probably find something like that at a craft store or hardware store.
