This weekend DS decided he was done with crawling and is now walking AND running around. He's also has not one but THREE teeth coming in at once. And I just found out that the cute temp (who is one of the manager's sons) will be joining our group permanently in 2 weeks. (Must remember... flirting at work.... is.... wrong....) Why, God? WHY?!?!?!

MJ did you hear anything about the new job? I don't know how much interaction you have among teams, but if you're on another one, you won't have as much temptation.

My 1 yr old is cutting 4 teeth, so I feel for ya. And well, he was going to start walking/running sooner or later. And the flirting, well I don't know what to tell you there. But good luck!

The good news MJ - with each of my kids, when they started walking, I lost 5 pounds. You are constantly moving, and bending and lifting and stretching, etc. Best exercise program ever.

And now he can come running to give you hugs when you pick him up after work. Best part of having toddlers, by a long shot. ;D

I took "no religious discussions" to mean just that. If you really want to know what I think, PM me. Otherwise, feel free to speculate

Actually, although I'm a strong believer, MidJD does have a point. We do have a religion board where we can discuss religion and share, but I don't believe opposing viewpoints are allowed. Not that I mind....

MJ, I am somewhat religious, but I am superstitious, and a firm believer in Karma. Things are going well for you these days! IMO a healthy child that is cutting three teeth simultaneously may be a royal PITA, but I really doubt it is Gd hating on you!

Agreed. I think it's more along the lines of God telling you that the kid will be asking for a steak dinner in the very near future, so start saving up!

I am not exactly a role model by most standards of motherhood today so take this for what it is worth. When my kids were teething I gave them ice pops. If you give him an ice pop after a while their gums get numb. Even if it did hurt a little they enjoyed the pops enough that they didn't cry much. ;D My DD walked at just after a year old. My son never crawled and only walked for a few days. He started running at 9 months and climbing at 11 months.

Before it was fashionable, I gave my DS a dog chew toy that I could put in the freezer. I now see them in layette sets. He suffered so, it was just awful. DD, I never even knew she had a tooth until I was giving her some ice out of my water glass in a restaurant and I heard the clank of the spoon on tooth!

MJ BW had 4 teeth by time he was 6 months old. Talk about God hating someone! I had to stop breast feeding because the little booger was going to bite my nipples off! He started walking at 10 months.
Pookie cut teeth later than BW but started walking at 9 months. He barely crawled. He did this weird crab walk thing. He would bend over and use his hands and feet instead of knees. He only did that for a few days before he started walking/running. Oh and he would climb constantly. I have pictures of him climbing up on various things. The funniest is a picture of him stand in the middle of the dining room table with nothing on but a diaper. I seriously only left the room for like a minute to grab him some clothes after his bath, I came back and found him on the table.

It's still roughly 12 months for walking. Some are sooner and some are later. DS was a bit late, DD was a bit early but then got an ear infection and it effected her balance so she started up at about 13 months again.

Rukh
5 months?! That is REALLY young, I have never heard of that and frankly I wonder if one of you got it wrong.
The youngest walker I know was 9 months. He was teeny tiny, and it was just WEIRD to see such a tiny, vertical human walking around! That was my friend's son (he's 23 now).
DS2 walked at 11 months, but he couldn't walk as fast as he crawled. So he got frustrated and went back to all fours for another month or so. That summer we rented a house with two other couples and their kids, our friends renamed DS2 "Speedy Gonzales" LOL. He started walking again (and running) about six weeks later, at about 12.5 months LOL.
