So, last week on NPR they were talking about financial acronyms. I'm a 'Henry' ...high earner, not rich yet.
"Hi, I'm Henry Sink". That's me.
There are also "sitcoms". Single income, two children, oppressive mortgage. (and that one seems to have come out even before the real estate bust.)

We are a Henry and we are aggressively paying down debt and saving for both liquidity and retirement. We aren't spending on frivolous stuff at the moment. We should be debt free in 5 years - which means paying off $120k of mortgage, $45k of cars, and $28k of student loans. All extra $$$ is diverted to retirement, college savings, and cash/other reserves. If things weren't so terrifying, we might be more willing to slow down the debt payment and savings, but things would have to look a lot better than they do now.

actually, considering how close I am to retirement, I'll never meet the "rich yet" part of that definition.

How high is henry high? $100k/year? $200k/year? Do you become a Vhenry at $250k/year? An Uhenry at $1M/year?

We're a sitcom (although I'm not laughing at all) that used to be a Henry. Life happens while you're making other plans. (Or, man plans, God laughs.)

According to the source the article quotes, HENRYs make 100-250K/year. And how dare they not spend everything they make on random crap simply because they think they might need their money. I swear, this country...damned if you spend, damned if you save.
Apparently if you make over 250K, you're either affluent or a total loser. <<toddles off to have her L tattooed on her forehead>>
