I am thinking about starting a new business up in the food industry. Just in thinking mode right now. A friend gave me a book and the title of the book fits me to the tee. Can I use that as a name of my business? Is that and infrimgement?

You can check to see if that business exists by contacting your secretary of state.

It would only be infringement if you were intentionally trying to fool people into thinking your business was related to the book, I think, but it's tricky. Can you change it just a bit to make your name different?

No, not trying to fool the public into thinking it was related. I could add another word or two.

That would probably help. Good luck on your business venture! How exciting!
