With it being a holiday weekend that kicks off summer, what are your plans and how much will it cost? I'm doing nothing! DH won't be home so I won't even be grilling out. Have no close enough friends to be invited any where either. Family I can only hope don't invite me. Haven't decided if I'm being smart or if this makes me a loser.

We're going to ILs' house for a BBQ on Sunday... total cost will be maybe $30 for gas, $15 for beer and a couple of 2-liters. It's supposed to be almost 100, thank goodness they have a pool (ICN, if you're bored, you can always crash! They don't live too far from your area). Monday DH is going to build us a little patio area outside the firepit. Maybe $10 for supplies (he's using creek rock, I think all he has to buy is a bag or two of Gator Dust to cement it in). We're pretty boring, too. But I'm excited to see the finished product, he did a similar patio last year when he worked for a landscape contractor and it looked amazing.

other than the twice-a-year salon trip tomorrow morning (the only available appointment), as little as possible. I took today off to get a jumpstart on purging crap this weekend.....and then slept in until 10:30 this morning. oops wandered over to Wally World first thing, spent a whopping $5 over the balance of a gift card I found in my kitchen last night. went to the grocery store after that for the weekend's produce and a couple sale items, spent another whole $22. I will probably pick up some beer on my way home from the salon, that might run me $25 because none of us agree on what to drink. tomorrow, my parents and a good friend are coming here to help out with stuff - Mom's going to touch up some paint in the kitchen, Dad's going to help me root through the closets, and my friend is going to use my washer/dryer since she's currently w/o a set. they are all going to help me with emptying my freezer when we throw stuff on the grill. ;D

Hotel $500. Park entrance tickets $250. We got season passes because it was cheaper than a 2 day entrance fee. Food, who knows. Gas, who knows
We're going to Great Escape in Lake George. It was planned last night.

About $200. W have one of the grandkids for a sleepover tinight and we're going to the Strawberry Festival tomorrow with him. We'll buy tickets so he can ride the carnival rides and get some lunch. Grocery shopping too. Not much else. It's been hot and humid the last couple of days, so maybe if it's hot on Sunday or Monday we'll drag out the kiddie pool and jump in to cool off. I already did my gardening earlier this week so I don't have to do any of that.
I'm going to look for some LR furniture too, but probably won't buy that just yet. I need a chair and possibly a new sofa. I have been looking for a couple of months but haven't found what I want yet.

Funny, it is Memorial Day weekend and here in Mt. Shasta it is SNOWING. I kinda feel sorry for the people who rent house boats for the long weekend down at the lake. Hope they bring jackets instead of bathing suits. (Then again, we hear that one year it snowed here on the 4th of July and they had to cancel the fireworks because of it!) And, before passing through the area on the way to Oregon, I highly suggest people always gas up the car in Redding. Our gas is currently $4.50 a gallon here for 87... Why? because they can.... I will be spending $0. The good part of being poor - no decisions on what to do or where to go... Actually I am in cash hoarding mode so I am trying not to spend any money on anything unnecessary. One kiddo went to a friends house, other kiddo is working, so it's just me the doggies and the kitties. I think I will do more painting. I am trying to rediscover creativity in my life. Cost of that will = priceless.

I do feel better knowing I'm not the only person without plans. I'm not brave enough to take a 6 yr old, 5 yr old and 11 month old any where alone. LOL Mid. That would be either really awesome or really bad, depending on the IL's ;D

I have no plans either except to do some chores.
I was in town today and ran all my errands, so stocked up on groceries, etc.
It's just going to be the usual costs of feeding myself--unless my sister invites me over. I'm not usually asked to bring anything because she knows I can't cook.
I do have some flowers to plant, but some came from Freecycle and cost nothing.

We don't have any "plans." I do have a leftover GALLON of orange juice from a breakfast retirement party I helped give. So that means mimosas. I usually only have these at Christmas and New Year's, but when life hands you orange juice, what else should you do? I think two Sundays in a row I will be celebrating the end of school. Family joke: my daughter made mimosas for a Mother's Day brunch. I warned her that they could actually get you quite tipsy. She said, "Only if you drink the entire pitcher by yourself, Mother." Oops, she is on to me. (But it takes me all day and sometimes the next.)

It's snowing here in Montana as well, but that doesn't surprise me, I regularly see snow in early summer. As far as the weekend goes, I am working Sat/Sun so not spending any money then. DW wants to go do something on Monday, but no idea what, so currently it looks like a big fat goose egg.

My freedom for the rest of my life. ;D <<snort>> And I bet you are giving your prison guard extra favors. DH just bought a new surveillance system that is "better" than the one we have ($300 off the price and has more/better cameras, memory, etc.). He is also fixing our backyard fountain by updating the lines and putting them in conduit and he's installing a new pump. We are at about $1,500 so far and we haven't done anything fun yet.

We are going to a free Folk Life Festival but will take the bus downtown then the monorail so that will cost something, I haven't taken the monorail since the World's fair in 1962 so that will be fun. It used to cost 50 cents but inflation for 50 years is bound to make it more expensive. The fair is free but the street artist like donations and I might go to Pike Place market and buy veggies on the way back. Sunday I need to put gas in my car then my mom is taking me to lunch. I offered to drive 500 miles round trip to drop her off at her sister's but she is dog sitting and letting the housekeeper in for my brother.

We're driving down to visit friends about 3-4 hours south of us...so maybe $50-70 for gas, plus whatever I blow at the malls and outlet malls Oh, and my BFF is having a horribly mature, low-key excuse-me sort of wedding in the Midwest sometime in June (time TBD) which means I have to order and ship all the most hideous tackiest cheesey wedding crap I can possibly find. ;D I made a good start at the dollar store (including a set of princess tiaras, ugly plastic rings, hideous ring pillow, and fake hot-pink rose petals) and have found a feather-boa containing tiara and elbow-length gloves on Amazon so far. I think I'm gonna have to order the "Safe Baby Handling" book too, even though they're leaning against kids--an anonymous coworker left a copy for another coworker whose wife is expecting and everyone was Oh, and I definitely need a unity candle. Estimated cost probably $60-70, plus a real gift. (Our group high school birthday tradition was that everyone else went to the dollar store and bought the most hideous disturbing crap that could be found. Keepin it real since 1993!)

I am working and studying. DSS turned 17 this week and is by us until Sunday nite. He doesn't like celebrations, so I have no idea what DH has planned for him. The only gift he wants is new running shoes.

Well, I would have liked to have done vitrually nothing this weekend- it's been a crazy week, including getting up at 5:30 AM on 2 days, once to run a triathlon and once to get to the office for a 7 AM video interview with HR for a job I want.
But, we have house guests. They were using Southwest credits for an unused ticket which were about to expire so this is the weekend they're here. To be fair, they're good guests- we have a lot of interests in common and they don't need to be waited on or catered to. They're also late sleepers, giving DH and me time alone before they come downstairs.
Anyway, as far as expenses- gas for the car since we're driving around a lot; more food, we're picking up lunch and dinner today. They're retired priests and I always manage to pick up the bill with people in lower-paid but important occupations by telling them that the world puts a ridiculously high dollar value on actuarial work, so let me get the check.
The wife was thrilled to find we have Penzey's and a very good yarn shop in town, so we'll go there and then head back to the art musuem where DH took them yesterday while I was working. I was sorry to miss that and was really happy when they said what they really wanted to do today was go back there.
Oh, yeah- gotta go out and buy more wine! He doesn't drink but she and I like to start in on it just before dinner.

Well got to bed very late(2am) and then back up before 7am. Was headed north to eat breakfast out with the in laws by 9am. Then got to hang out with them and the kids at Kmart and Dollar Tree. YAY me! They ended up buying me a shirt for a late Mother's day gift. DH wasn't home so no one got/said anything to me on that day. Not too bad so far. Now going to try to get the baby down for a nap....momma is tired too!

It looks like the weather is ruining my plans. I was to go to the beach today, but raining. There's not too many places in my area to spend money on a Sunday. I'm so bummed about this weather. :/

Well, we'll just have to wait to see what our co-pay is for the trip to the emergency room... We planned on doing chores associated with the move including cleaning the mossy top of the glass-topped veranda. We borrowed one of those folding ladders and DH snapped the crap out of his finger. Not only was it a deep cut he broke his finger. We spent about two hours at the emergency room and DH has a huge splint around his finger. I'm calling him lobster claw boy. Tonight we're headed to a friend's house for American steaks. We spent about $25 on wine and flowers. But we won't be much fun. DH has to be careful with his pain meds and drinking. And since lobster boy can't drive a stick shift I'll have to drive. Our friends are going to be disappointed.

Well we got FREE tickets to Atlanta Braves game. Of course it is not completely free. - Had to by an extra ticket and parking pass - $21 - Gas to stadium $35 - have to get my 6'4" son to ride in the back of the Fiesta. If not could be $50 in gas - Food on the road up and back (it is 3 hour drive one way so it is all day trip) for 3 $40 - Drinks at the game - it is going to be HOT.... $20
Total $131. Hopefully will be a good time. We usually take our son to 1-2 games a year, but haven't the last 2 years because he is a teenager! This will be the last one before he goes off to college!

Bonn, how awful! Hope your DH starts feeling better soon. I never thought about not being able to drive a standard with a broken finger... Had to laugh at this. I broke my left arm and was driving a 5 speed. Had to take right hand off steering wheel to shift gears and only had tips of fingers showing from cast to steer. I did a lot of driving with only my knee for about 9 weeks. I was dangerous on the road to say the least Oh, and to stay on topic, I have no clue how much this weekend will cost until midnight tonight

I got free tickets to the Symphony yesterday- $10 for parking. Today I got free tickets to the baseball game- probably another $10 for parking plus @10-15 for food there. And tomorrow I want to go to old town Scottsdale and just wander around. I'd like to get a nice piece of Southwestern art for under $100 but I'm picky so I don't know what I'll find... Other than that- just typical groceries, gas and lunch out.
