I wasn't really sure where to put this, so mods feel free to move if needed. Just leave me a trail. I am 36 and have only ever used the pill. I know that they will be wanting to take me off of it in the next couple of years, and truthfully I want off of it. After a round of "I think I want to have a baby" thoughts, I have decided that I in no way want another. So I am researching permanent birth control. I also want something hormone free, and have been seriously looking at Essure. Has anyone tried any permanent BC besides tubal ligation?

Yes, I did when I was 23 y.o. in the early 70's. It solved the daily stress of will I get pg but started heavy mentral flow that controlled my life until menopause. I got zero help from the MDs until my DD had a hysterectomy for the core problem. They then came at me with that solution. I was near menopause and decided to see if that cured the issue and it did.
I know the desire and need to be near babies. I am blessed with being a grandmother several times over. If you need to be near babies, volunteer at the hospital or in your churches nursery to settle those hormones down.
One of my 3 y.o. GrGSs has moved away. I settle myself by watching a 3 y.o. with his parents at church. He's so proud he can go potty! I'm not close enough to the family to get hugs. ;D

I had very serious complications from the IUD. I would not recommend it.
Wouldn't it be a lot easier for your partner to get a vasectomy? Its much less invasive and could be covered by medical.

I'm 47 and still on the pill so you can always stay on it if you can't find a better method.

I think a tubal ligation is the easiest the way to go if you are really sure you don't want any more children.

If you are married, and hope to be married for the rest of your life, why not seek a vasectomy? It can be done in the office, and is not that expensive. The rest requires you be anesthetized, and invasive surgery. This.
