If Geoffrey Rush doesn't win best supporting actor, it will be a crime. That was an awesome performance.

I'd go with Michelle Williams for Actress. Natalie Portman will get an Oscar one day, but not for this movie.
I suspect Coming Home will get it for song. Surely Randy Newman doesn't have any more shelf space, and they'll want to make sure that Gwen Paltrow shows up.
I thought everything about The King's Speech was amazing, so I hope they clean up.

I am considering Annette Benning for the Best Actress. The Academy gets sentimental sometimes, and I think they will look at actresses like Portman and Williams and see further opportunities for them to win. I could be wrong, but look at all the analysis of John Wayne's win for "True Grit" back in the day.

Loved the King's Speech - hope it sweeps! Although Helena Bonham Carter's performance should have been for Best Actress.

I think Rush will have a hard time beating out Christian Bale. He was utterly compelling in a not very comfortable way in The Fighter. Those type of visceral performances usually win.
I too think Annette Bening will win Best Actress. Williams had by far the better performance, but the Academy can be very old fashioned and Bening is more with the "in" crowd than Williams.

It's all about the bedroom scene.... Poor Williams. Not because I thought it was great, but I'm betting Portman walks away with Oscar.

I think the Kings Speech for Best Picture, Christopher Nolan will win screenplay since he wasn't nominated for director, toy story 3 will get animated, colin firth for kings speech, natalie portman for black swan.
I haven't actually seen ANY of them, and am planning to do so the two weekends before the Oscars (the 19th and 26th) at AMC's Best Picture Showcase (http://www.amctheatres.com/bps/). $60 for ten movies! I've done it the last four years and it's a blast (used to be 5 movies, of course). Then I'lll get back to you with my non-political guesses and who I think SHOULD win as opposed to who WILL win

This is what makes the guessing so much fun!! However, the should-wins take all of the drama out of the rewards, and you know Hollywood, they love them some drama..........
