Acceptable for a first vehicle for a 16yr old? We are looking at a 98 Isuzu Hombre for my DD for her first car, the dealer is asking $3700, it's an automatic, 4cyl. with 145K miles. Hopefully we could get him down as it lists for between 3200-3700 depending on if you look at NADA or KBB and if it's in really good condition. We really don't want to spend more than 3K-3500 for her first car and she really wants a truck. I can't find alot online about it as far as reviews/ratings go and just wondering if this would really be a fairly safe first vehicle. So what do you think? Yes, no, pros, cons. Or what would be an acceptable first truck. Please help!!

So Rick...the Isuzu was a bust anyways, the headlights were zipped tied in, duct tape holding side lights, etc. What about a little Chevy S10 or Ford Ranger. late 90's model? I've got a '04 Sporttrac and LOVE it. I guess I'm really a Ford person since my last 3 cars have been Fords. Pros, Cons... of these little trucks? We found one S10 a 97 w/over 200Kmi for $2500 and a 2000 w/185Kmi but they wanted $6K for it.. outrageous if you ask me as the NADA for clean retail is only $4800
