Not Academy Award worthy, imo. The teenage actress was good, look forward to more from her. George is such a poser in movies like this. Yawn.

I really liked it. I thought George was really good. The only thing I didn't care for is that his family was so white. You would think after so many generations on the island, there would be a little more indigenous heritage mixed throughout the cousins and what-not. Seemed a little racist or something - but I let that go as just a problem with finding the right actors to play those types of roles.
As far as Academy Award worthy - I think their taste stinks. They always pick movies that are making some statement or something. No question that "40 Year Old Virgin" was the best of that year - funny all the way through, very believable characters, with a great story, excellently executed and the acting was amazing. I still wonder how Steve Carroll has children, given that he is a virgin. The Oscars suck.

I liked it. The setting was beautiful and watching the relationship between the father and daughters really got to me. It wasn't great but it was done well enough to tug at my sentimental hear strings.
