This reminds me of the story of "Lady-Be-Good", a four engined B-24 Liberator bomber.

They all had families. Loved ones who agonized over them. They were all heroes. And how many more are still waiting to be found?

I read about the P40 being found, henry. I found myself saddened at the thought of that lone British pilot, sitting under the tarpaulin cover he'd constructed, pondering what in the heck he was going to do now. I can't imagine how alone and frightened he must have felt, and the sense of hopelessness that must have overtaken him. I found myself with tears in my eyes before I'd finished the article. Thinking of the families whose loved ones never came home is truly heartbreaking.
